The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 31/1/2024

Plenty of positive results for us last week so we’ll do better to beat that this week but we’ve gotta give it a go… Here’s week 4 of the week ahead; No bets Wednesday & Thursday Friday 13:47 Lingfield - Daring Guest Getting on now this old boy but runs well enough fresh and 2 runs in 2023 suggest that he’s still well in himself. Just 1lb higher than he’s last C&D success where he won by 4L. Saturday 17:30 Wolves - Morindoo Happy enough with this one’s handicap debut, gets an extra furlong almost here too. Form of that run is working out well too. A few handicap debutants in here but I like this one the most. Sunday 15:45 Lingfield - Watch My Tracer Interesting enough that this horse has remained in England for the winter. I’d have been certain he’d be in the Middle East with others in these silks.  Should be too good for these. 16:17 Lingfield - Mehmo 3 entries this week, so will see if he’s declared but this is where I’d bring him. Showed he was ready to win soon at southw...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 22nd - 28th January 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 22 nd  – 29 th  Jan 2024   24 th  Jan – 5:30 Kempton    Lunar Rocks    Rated 37 but ran a good race against bias here. Slow away, held up last, slow fraction set on the front end didn’t help, ran on very strongly for 4 th . Looks like the penny is slowly dropping with her. Could sneak in the 46-66 1m1 ½f 3yo Handicap at Wolverhampton on the 19 th  Feb or 46-55 1m 3yo handicap at Kempton on Wednesday 14 th  Feb, both suitable targets.   26 th  Jan – 5:30 Dundalk    Hi Sur Multi    Much better run here on handicap debut, travelled well in rear, challenged on wrong side of track, ran on well for 5 th . Keep onside over 8f-10f, think he has a some wiggle room in his mark. (edit* Should stay 12f)

The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 13

After a blank week last week, we’re hoping to get back in the saddle and continue the form of the other series that we do. Limited action again but hopeful of our two chances here, let’s get into it. 16:20 Lingfield - 1M 4F handicap STOPNSEARCH returned to a mile and a half last time and that produced a much needed return to form. He just found himself held up in a race that paid to be prominent. I can see two in here (Atwixadaay and Iftikhaar) who have raced prominently before and then also Savoy Brown and The Resdev Way inconsistently have done so too, so between them there should be a bit of pace on which can bring the selection into the race more than the last day. He’s extremely well handicapped on his old form, he last won off 72 (disqualified that day) and then he last made the from off 65. He runs here off 51 and having shown signs of a revival i rate him a solid selection. Selection - Stopnsearch (11/2 William Hill, 5/1 General) 17:15 Wolverhampton - 7F 36Y Slightly more specu...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead - 23/1/24

Wednesday 14:50 Lingfield - Sassy Redhead Won impressively the last day, drawn widest and traveled wide through out, she gave away plenty of ground and still managed to get home infront, being 2L ahead of the 3rd too. 4lb for that is generous I’d say and a better draw here should so her go well. 20:30 Kempton - Mostly Sunny Plenty of form in the book for this this one and at a much higher level than this. In a few class 2 handicaps over the summer. Stays the trip well and should be in the frame here. Big weight but not against that on these staying types. Thursday  15:55 Southwell - Hiatus Majorly eye-catching last time when short of room several times at Kempton, unchanged for that too in where he was beaten less than a length. The winner that day is in here too but shouldn’t get his own way front. Friday  19:15 Wolves - Exalted Angel Still capable at a high level, 3rd at listed level just 3 starts back. A danger here at a track that should suit better. Saturday 14:05 ...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 15th-21st January 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 15 th  - 21 st  January 2024   15 th  January – 3:50 Lingfield    Star Of Sussex   Nice enough return back on the flat, held up miles back in rear, put in the race very late and wasn’t knocked about. Will be looking to back over 10f on the AW NTO. Not one to go mad on though.     17 th  January – 7:30 Kempton   Handel   Bounce back to form here, drop back in trip looked to suit, made good ground from unpromising position, but couldn’t challenge the 1 st  and 2 nd  who had first run. Will look to back over 1m-1m1f, would be more interested if the cheekpieces were back on.   19 th  January – 3:25 Wolverhampton    Catrake Force    Market told the story here, didn’t look off a yard to me. Keen early but did settle slightly better further into the race, very well handicapped winner went past her very quickly and she wasn’t knocked about from then on. Keep onside 1m-1m1...

The Neighsayers - Saturday 20th January

12:15 Lingfield - 7F Handicap  Competitive stuff to start the day off, but eagle eyed readers of the Weekly Eye-Catchers will have known the bet in here for us is the Stuart Williams trained REVOLUTIONISE . We flagged him up for this race on the 9th December for this race specifically, after a very good run on this card last year behind the very progressive All The Kings Men. He’s ran good races in defeat recently, only being beaten less than 4l in all runs this season. Also highlighted in the Eye-catchers, we have been waiting for Jason Hart to back on this one, and today is the day he jumps back on for the first time since his 2nd on this card last year. Jason has rode him 7 times, winning 4 and placing in 2, he is the man for the job! Would expect the strong travelling grey to move into the race really well from Mid div, and hopefully putting the race to bed in the final furlong. in terms of the price, 6/1 ish is about right, but after following the horses progress over the last...

The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday

Just one selection this week we rate fit enough for Floodlit Fridays. There’s a trio of horses running from The Week Ahead and updates for those will be in the WhatsApp Channel. Onto Floodlit Friday’s… 14:50 Wolverhampton - 7F Handicap I’m following  OUTREACH  to back up his Boxing Day success here and continue the winning streak. My thoughts are similar as they were to that day and that the selection can be sat close to a steady pace. Fieldsman is the likely leader but looks to be at his threshold rating really and I’d not be too trusting of the young jockey on him to get the fractions right. I don’t see much in the race to be a danger apart from Van Zant, who also won well Boxing Day and was nowhere when stablemate won on his next run. I rate Outreach a solid bet here. Selection - Outreach (3/1 Bet365, 5/2 William Hill, 9/4 General)

The Neighsayers - Cheltenham Challenge

Morning all, apologies for the delay and this not going out last night, but that just means you're being treated to a double blog Thursday, with floodlit Friday going out tonight. Here's this weeks Cheltenham Challenge. Swanny - @swan1_oliver This week, I’m looking to put a horse up towards the top of the market, that I think still represents some value. My selection comes in the champion bumper, and is the Gordon Elliot Trained Jalon D’oudairies .  I was impressed by the horses front running tactics is testing conditions at Leopardstown, beating the highly regarded Willie Mullins trained Redemption Day by 2 3/4 lengths, midfield in last years champion bumper before a 2nd to Facile Vega at the Punchestown festival.  The bumper division has looked pretty weak this year compared to recent times, and nothing has come out and significantly caught the eye. Jalon showed plenty of talent in his run and I think massive improvement can come from that, and I think the 6/1 on offer is a ...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 16/1/24

We’re back with another The Week Ahead here and hopefully we can endure the same success as the previous week.  Wednesday 20:00 Kempton - David’s Diva Won pretty easily last time out, form boosted since with the 2nd winning so could be value for more than a 5lb rise. Race looks modest, slight concern about leader getting free but she travelled well enough last time to suggest should be able to eat up any ground. Thursday 18:30 Southwell - Cavern Club Unexposed on AW with form reading 1,3 and race doesn’t look like it’ll be run at much of a tempo. Should be sat just behind the leaders and finish well over the trip. Friday 12:30 Wolves - Carey Street Shower plenty on Monday night against John Butler bingo, been in good form which is crucial for a mare at this time of year and she gets on with H Doyle well (currently Jocked on) 17:15 Newcastle - Catrake Force Showed a decent bit on debut, buried 2nd run and then strangled on 3rd run for a mark, usually a prominent racer they restraine...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 8th-14th Janauary 2024

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 8 th  – 14 th  January 2024   12 th  January – 5:45 Dundalk    She Still Blooms    Hinted ability in 2 latest runs on the AW. Was put in the race on the wrong side of the track here and I could defiantly see her improving for the switch to handicaps. Marks in the 50s would be workable.   12 th  January – 6:00 Wolverhampton    John L Sullivan    Blatantly stopped in run, carried head awkwardly but mainly due to the jockey pulling his head off. I’m guessing 1 more run for a mark could be more, follow into handicaps. Has decent level of ability and will show that once hes allowed to run.   13 th  January – 2:42 Kempton    Teddy Blue    Ran a great race here, tanked in rear but made very good headway wide, moved into the race very nicely but a combination of early move into the straight and the trip testing his stamina took its effect. Weakened out of things late but it w...

The Neighsayers - Saturday NAP's

15.00 Warwick - 3m 5F Handicap  Swanny My NAP of the weekend comes in Classic Handicap Chase and it is the Charlie Longsdon trained Guetapan Collonges. Last seen rallying on for 3rd at Cheltenham, he has a 10lb swing in his favour with the Gavin Cromwell Trained Malina Girl, whom he re-opposes today. I think the JP owned runner ticks all the boxes for this race, the step up in trip will be key along with the style of the track, jumping is key and I think Malina girl may be found out here with that. Guetapan Collonges looks certain for a big race here and he’s a solid EW Play.   Selection - Guetapan Collonges EW (7/1 General) 16:30 Wolves - 6f Handicap Lew Nice quiet pipe opener last time for   GOLDEN PASSPORT  at Wolves on his yard debut and jockey booking suggested that’s what it would be. Tomorrow’s jockey booking much more positive with Muscutt taking the riding which to me shows winning intent. Last time out was in a class 4 and was probably a decent 0-80 at...

The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 11

Well, round two of writing this out having lost the blog as it didn't save. So here goes... Slim pickings in regards to races available to us with only Wolves on in the UK and Dundalk in Ireland, but that wasn't much of a proposition on Friday. Wolverhampton - 17:00 - 7F Handicap Thought PESSOA won generously enough last time irrespective of the winning margin and only a 2lb rise should see him go in again. Had a lovely race set up that day coming off a good pace and tomorrow's set up should suit further. As many as 6 runners who may want to lead in this race, with The Toff, Bishop's Glory, Ishani, Dors Toyboy and Ravenglass raced from the front before and Pride of Spain has been keen in the past, that doesn't look like it'll change here with the jockey booking. Finley Marsh has been on board for both wins in professional rider races, so he'll know the horse well and should be able to deliver it in front again. Selection - Pessoa (100/30 bet365, 11/4 Gener...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 9/1/23

The Week Ahead This is a new series that we’ll be producing weekly with the aim being to give an insight into what we look for when finding a selection, even before declarations. The hope is to bring this out every Tuesday, giving us a week’s worth of entries to go through and maybe even some Antepost selections for the weekend ahead, where they may apply. Let’s get it into it DECLARED Thursday; 11:50 Southwell - Hyrcanian Has been slow away on all 3 starts but showed plenty on debut once the penny did drop. Dropped in trip for next 2 starts which interestingly enough were all within a 3 week period, suggesting has ability but maybe needed to fill into her frame, so get her a mark and then give her to develop. On her debut run 54 very lenient, stalls concern however. 13:30 Southwell - Eligible  Looks a weak enough race for the grade. Multiple C&D winner. Was flat out most of last year running monthly, had 5 month off before 2 come back runs should put him spot on here. E...
