The Neighsayers - Saturday NAP's
15.00 Warwick - 3m 5F Handicap
Swanny
My NAP of the weekend comes in Classic Handicap Chase and it is the Charlie Longsdon trained Guetapan Collonges. Last seen rallying on for 3rd at Cheltenham, he has a 10lb swing in his favour with the Gavin Cromwell Trained Malina Girl, whom he re-opposes today. I think the JP owned runner ticks all the boxes for this race, the step up in trip will be key along with the style of the track, jumping is key and I think Malina girl may be found out here with that. Guetapan Collonges looks certain for a big race here and he’s a solid EW Play.

Nice quiet pipe opener last time for GOLDEN PASSPORT at Wolves on his yard debut and jockey booking suggested that’s what it would be. Tomorrow’s jockey booking much more positive with Muscutt taking the riding which to me shows winning intent.
Last time out was in a class 4 and was probably a decent 0-80 at that, so a drop in grade and class here with 2lb back from the handicapper to help also makes this a strong fancy for me.
Never won over 6 furlongs but I think he’s shown in his running style that he’s plenty of speed and has been keen when going a slow pace. That shouldn’t be a problem over 6 and he should be seen to good effect here.

A race lacking depth for me here and regular readers of Floodlit Fridays won’t be shocked that the fancy in here is the James Evans trained GENTLE FIRE. Was pulled out her race last week for being in season, but she has been entered up quickly and allowed to take her chance here in what looks a weak enough race.
GENTLE FIRE first caught my eye when making a mockery of her handicap mark of 46. I expected her to kick on into ratings on the 60s but she never did for whatever reason. She returns back to the scene of her impressive 1m6f win, off a 4lb higher mark what is more than workable in my book. Her best runs have come when fresh, so the return from a 108-day break here doesn’t worry me at all, along with the slightly shorter trip than her course win, as she is very effective on the bridle and can use her high cruising speed to make inroads into the race.
Interesting that Daniel Muscutt jumps back on, a jockey who knows her well and who has won on her before. This race lacks depth and I could only see half the field being competitive here, making GENTLE FIRE a cracking EW in my mind. Should be going close for her new trainer.
Selection - Gentle Fire EW (8/1 General)
