 The Week Ahead


This is a new series that we’ll be producing weekly with the aim being to give an insight into what we look for when finding a selection, even before declarations. The hope is to bring this out every Tuesday, giving us a week’s worth of entries to go through and maybe even some Antepost selections for the weekend ahead, where they may apply.

DECLARED


Thursday;


11:50 Southwell - Hyrcanian


Has been slow away on all 3 starts but showed plenty on debut once the penny did drop. Dropped in trip for next 2 starts which interestingly enough were all within a 3 week period, suggesting has ability but maybe needed to fill into her frame, so get her a mark and then give her to develop. On her debut run 54 very lenient, stalls concern however.


13:30 Southwell - Eligible 


Looks a weak enough race for the grade. Multiple C&D winner. Was flat out most of last year running monthly, had 5 month off before 2 come back runs should put him spot on here. Expected to be Favourite.


14:40 Southwell - Jeans Maite 


Interesting runner back at 5F, showed plenty of speed over 6 last 2 starts and now returns to a C&D where a multiple winner. Could face pace pressure one, might be on for another day.

Friday


13:30 Wincanton - Nimbus Boy 


Gambled on when winning LTO, won with good amount in hand. Should be going in again. Price may be short though.


19:00 Wolves - Sibyl Charm


Watch market on this if declared, was in floodlight Friday’s recently, drifted out to double figures and finished pulled essentially. 5/1 SP last time and finished 2nd. 


19:30 Wolves - Beauzon / Urban Dandy


Beauzon, cat is out the bag after easy win, less prize money here, probably open a short price, could drift and be not off. Urban Dandy good run at Southwell recently, just tiring up the straight. Easier 6F could benefit.


Saturday 


12:12 Fairyhouse - Batman Girac 


Got this down as potential Boodles horse at the Festival. Should be easy enough for him in this maiden. Hopefully they don’t get tempted by the Triumph hurdle. Horse has plenty of ability.


17:45 Chelmsford - Night On Earth


Featured for us on Sunday in a very competitive race. Serious ease in grade here on a track that plays prominently. Could face pace pressure from Dynamic Force but even he shouldn’t be able to lay up early.


19:15 Chelmsford - Tribal Wisdom 

Ran good race LTO at Newcastle, only get tired late. An easy 10f will suit like he could get today. Also entered at Lingfield on the 15th. I’d be backing him where ever he shows up. 


Sunday 


14:30 Lingfield - Upepo


Won with any amount in hand last time even after coming round on the turn. Up in grade but modest race.


16:00 Lingfield - Ajrad 


Lowest mark he’s ran off in a while, had some terrible rides of recent making me think he’s been plotted for something. This is last chance on him for me, returning back to his favoured track.


Monday


15:20 Lingfield - Free As A Bird


Ran in some decent races, massive class drop and should be able to go very close here.

20:30 Wolverhampton - Aeroplane Mode 


was my Boxing Day nap as you may have seen on the twitter page, pulled out that day perhaps due to the wide draw. Entered in another 0-55 here same thoughts apply would like to see a better draw and hopefully a fair price, I think he’ll have too much class for this field.


Tuesday


16:05 - Plumpton


Sanitiser has an entry here for Gary Moore , don’t think his last run was missed by many was stopped dead and would’ve probably won if trying. The handicapper has left him alone and I think he’ll be very hard to beat off 94 if he’s off given he was rated 92 on the flat for the Cole’s.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
