The Neighsayers - Day at The Races - Doncaster 31/05

Let's try something a little different, we felt the page had been pretty much the same week in week out for a while now, Eye-catchers followed by The Week Ahead and maybe something in-between. As we mentioned in the WhatsApp, we think we're quite active on racecourses so thought it could be an idea to put up our bets we fancy when going racing. Will be tracked and will be taking prices and not SP and might even get bets that are more than 1pt... Let's see how night 1 goes at Doncaster this week. These will go up on the morning of racing, if time permits. Price's will have to be with 2 firms to be claimed as we don't want to be putting up stand out prices. 17:45 Doncaster - Southern Voyage This horse been running around dormant since winning back in September 2022, yes 2022... showed a little bit on final turf start of 2023 in heavy ground at Newmarket, then a very very quiet winner. He sprung back into life first start on turf of 2024 placing 3rd at Chester and ran ...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 29/05/24

A very slight profit of +1.33 means it was back to back profit for the first time in a while, albeit nothing to shout too loudly about... Symbol of Hope winning readily at 100/30 and Sergeant Wilko winning gamely at 3/1 secure a slight profit from 7 selections. Let’s hope for more of the same this week. Wednesday 14:10 Beverley - Evocative Spark A runner here from the Chester review blog and one I think is certain to pop up soon and hopefully that day is tomorrow. Drops down from a 69-88 into a 56-75 and this is his first class 5 handicap on his 24th handicap start. Can't believe he managed to finish 3rd at Chester given he was 4 off the rail at one point, seems to go well at this C&D too, finishing 2nd and Winning off a mark of 76, where he won by 5L. Can see 2 front runners here on paper that we'd ideally sit just behind, being Mickey Mongoose and Challet.  Thursday 16:50 Ripon - Woodleigh Last 2 runs for this lad have just been weird to say the least. Looked outpaced ear...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eyecatchers 20th - 26th May 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 20 th  – 26 th  may 2024   20 th  May – 5:40 Windsor   Brian    Nice run here and won’t have gone unmissed. Travelling well out the back when no clear run on rail, got gaps late and did nice back end work under tender handling (1 tap). +2.23% over the race finishing time and will have learnt plenty in the process. This should be winning a maiden next time out, showed speed and gears. Lovely debut    24 th  May – 5:15 Curragh    Beatrix Power     Broke well, should have made it but was restraint into midfield, travelled powerfully behind horses and didn’t have much room to challenge, got gap late and run on very well under tender handling. Can back this up, shown enough ability to win a maiden at a lesser track nto    25 th  May – 1:55 Curragh    Local Lad    Talk aboit being pitched in the deep end on debut. Slightly slow into stride, didn’t pick up the bit and ra...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 23/05/24

Bit of a quiet week last week having decided to not bet a few of the horses listed, luckily they didn't win but shaped with promise. Alrazeen looks a sure thing when stepped back up in trip, traded odds on at Newmarket before lacking the pace close home for 10 furlongs. Winners coming from Bluestocking and Skukuza from just 5 selections means finishing the +2.25pts at SP. A welcome step in the right direction. Thursday 15:40 Catterick - Queens Road Revue Featured last time and has to feature here again for me, sorry Swanny... was miles out the back on reappearance & handicap debut and hopefully will have come on for that. Best run and best piece of form at 2 came on soft ground which we undoubtedly have today, drawn on the stands rail which is often where to be in the soup here. Should hold a great chance.  18:47 Chelmsford - Saaheq Winner of this race last year off 70 (Mia Nicholls claimed 7) and this year he rocks up off 64 (Mia Nicholls claiming 5) so essentially 4lb l...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 13th-19th May 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 13 th  -19 th  May 2024   15 th  May – 4:15 York    Misermerald    Done well over the winter, travelled well in mid div, looked to make challenge and was making nice headway when no clear run, ran on under hands and heels. Will improve fitness wise and should be backed 7f-8f at your norther tracks    16 th  May – 4:00 Salisbury    Crown of India    Did well here on 2 nd  start, left his debut form well behind. In rear with plenty to do, past horses rapidly when asked and ran on very well from unpromising position. Can go well nto over 1m2f+ with a better track pozzy.   17 th  May – 3:00 Newbury    Haazeez    Nice debut. Slightly keen and was fighting the rider early. Found a stride and when asked to go picked up really well under tender riding. Should have learnt how to race more efficiently here and should be bet nto.   18 th  May – 3:50 Newm...

The Neighsayers - 16/5/2024

16/5/2024   3:05 Limerick – 7f Handicap   Small field 3yo handicaps are great betting heats and I think there is a bet In here in the form of  LORD CHURCH . He showed up pretty well in 3 competitive maidens, where he was never in a position to challenge but always hinted at ability. He was educated on all 3 starts, and by his 3 rd  run he was very streetwise, showed nice attitude and moved well with a nice head carriage.    Stands out to me here that he was gelded in his time off, something I feel they will use for the improvement in form. Some horses in here look really poor in my opinion, and I think  LORD CHURCH  is miles the best of this mob, and he should be a progressive type this season. I’d like to see him ridden handy today, leaving him with no excuses. A mark of 64 looks more than workable, and I’d have him pushing high 70s come the end of the season.   Selection – Lord Church 5/2   3:45 York – 1m2f G2   Small enough field...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 15/05/2024

Another bitterly disappointing week last week having gotten off to a flyer... Primo Lara a very nice winner who won't have finished winning yet and then 2 bits of pain in Calshot Spit and Chillhi both touching long odds on before ultimately finishing 2nd. Another small losing week of -0.5pts which obviously isn't the end of the world but need to stop the downward trend at the minute. Now sat at +17.18pts over 18 weeks. Full P/L Breakdown available for the week ahead if anyone is interested. Wednesday 19:40 Bath - Bobby Kennedy  Typically modest staying handicap around Bath and this lad seems to save his best for round here. Course figures 15252 on all types of ground. Should be close enough to a sedate pace and should confirm the form with Asense, who's the obvious danger. The selection is able to claim 3lb off here thanks to the jockey and Asense now has a fully fledged jockey on so is 7lb worse off. So there's an 8lb swing in the weight's here and we already beat...

The Neighsayers - York Day 15/05/24

Feels great to be back on the Knavesmire, one of the fairest tracks in the country and often the best racing ground. Rain may dampen that here but should be no excuses. Competitive days racing and hopefully we can find some winners... 2:15 York - 12f Handicap (Elliot) Going to side with Ian Williams French import TRACK OF TIME . Last seen finishing a staying on 5th in a Meydan handicap for FH Graffard over 9f  , I think this 12f here could be his optimum trip. Has only tackled the trip once but this was probably a career best being beaten a head in a listed race at Saint-cloud where he had Bold act in behind. Was held up that day and I would probably expect similar tactics here with Spencer booked to take the ride, hopefully gets a clear run and should go well, will be backing each way at 18’s. Selection - Track of time EW (16/1 Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, 14/1 Bet365, Betfair 4pl) 2:45 York - 6f Handicap (Lew) It's almost a race to throw a dart at the board and back your number...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-catchers 6th-12th May

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 6 th  – 12 th  May 2024   9 th  May – 3:53 Brighton    Hotspur Harry    First run back after break. Ran well from off the pace, switched drastically in the straight and blew up final furlong. Will come on for this run and should be backed over 10f throughout the turf season.   9 th  May – 8:00 Chelmsford    Hajara    Nice physical, showed plenty amidst greenness. Lugged round the bend but once straightened up, she changed her legs a few times and ran on very nicely. This was a very good debut and she should be winning NTO 1m2+ .   10 th  May – 4:05 Cork    Promise Given    Showed plenty here, moving well in behind horses. Could never get a run and finished under tender handling. Wont have learnt much from this unfortunately but has shown plenty of raw ability. Should go well in maidens nto    10 th  May – 6:34 Nottingham    Mount Atlas  ...

The Neighsayers - Chester Review

We thought we’d do something different for once and finally get round to doing something we’ve always wanted to do. A festival review… all in all an enjoyable few days at Chester, probably because we spent most of the races just watching and not hiding behind the sofa hoping you get a run…   Wednesday 13:30 - 6f Handicap Couple in here to take forward for me, from a race run at an exceptional pace. OLD CHUMS blazed the trail and stayed there, seemed to love it round here, if he can find a less competitive race, or less pace pressure, he’s certain to win and still well handicapped. MACANUDO looked to want 7 here and plenty went wrong for him, drawn wide and held up in rear, not through choice I’d imagine but he’s ended up rattling home near side. Ready to win the right circumstances. 14:05 - Lily Agnes Conditions race Best horse won here. SERAPHIM ANGEL just looks quick, the Queen Mary awaits here. Would also expect to see stable mate SIR GEOFF MORGAN at Royal Ascot, perhaps up to 6...
