3:05 Limerick – 7f Handicap
Small field 3yo handicaps are great betting heats and I think there is a bet In here in the form of LORD CHURCH. He showed up pretty well in 3 competitive maidens, where he was never in a position to challenge but always hinted at ability. He was educated on all 3 starts, and by his 3rd run he was very streetwise, showed nice attitude and moved well with a nice head carriage.
Stands out to me here that he was gelded in his time off, something I feel they will use for the improvement in form. Some horses in here look really poor in my opinion, and I think LORD CHURCH is miles the best of this mob, and he should be a progressive type this season. I’d like to see him ridden handy today, leaving him with no excuses. A mark of 64 looks more than workable, and I’d have him pushing high 70s come the end of the season.
Selection – Lord Church 5/2

Small enough field for the Dante this year but is very competitive even with the Racing Post trophy winner taking up a large chunk of the market. The price has slightly gone but I do still feel the 5/1 on offer for the William Haggas trained ECONOMICS represents a fair bet.
I had my eye on him going into this season after a very promising debut in a back-end Newmarket maiden, where he ran green and was outpaced in a crucial stage of the race. He stayed on very well to finish 4th and was put away for a 3yo campaign after, something I do like with the middle-distance prospects. I think would have benefited him massively, as he is huge horse who will have filled his frame during his time off.
He rocked up to a Newbury maiden on seasonal debut and was backed as if defeat was out the question. He raced in the middle of the track (not where the pace was) and beat the horses in his pack comfortably. He moved across slightly and was asked to quicken and did so very impressively, putting a good field away. The form of this is very good, with the 6th and 8th both coming out next time and winning well. ECONOMICS clocked really impressive final 3f sectionals, particularly the final furlong where his stamina really showed, clocking an 11.89, what was much quicker than anything else in the race.
I really like everything about this horse, nice galloping type who will excel over the 10f trip, I think he is a proper horse and has plenty of room for improvement on what he has already shown.
Selection – Economics 5/1
7:22 Lingfield – 5f Handicap
I really wanted to target this race as I feel the race is weak and doesn’t have many in here who i would ever want to bet. I came down on the Robert Cowell trained TOMSHALFSISTER who has shown glimpses in all 4 runs to date but hasn’t put it all together yet. She showed plenty to work with on her Yarmouth debut, where she blazed a trail Infront and was still in the places 1f out. She was then placed with handicaps in mind, but she took a backwards step at Chelmsford after missing the break slightly and getting behind early. The winner made all that day, and it was very hard for any horse to come off the pace, even more so at Chelmsford, so you can put a line through that in my opinion. She returns back to the turf today and gets a straight 5f to have a go at.
Fitness is taken on trust here, but trainer Robert Cowell has started very well with his 3yo handicappers who have had a 100 day + break, with 3 winners from 4 runners, TOMSHALFSISTER falls under this filter and I’m hoping she is ready for this. She gets the first time blinkers here, another factor what I feel will improve her as she is out of a dam who’s better horses all improved for the application of headgear. The progeny’s offspring were all trained by Cowell, and he should know that the headgear could improve her significantly. 9/1 at the moment is a good price and I feel she could see money tomorrow.
Selection – Tomshalfsister 11/1
