Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 6th – 12th May 2024

 

9th May – 3:53 Brighton 

 

Hotspur Harry 

 

First run back after break. Ran well from off the pace, switched drastically in the straight and blew up final furlong. Will come on for this run and should be backed over 10f throughout the turf season.

 

9th May – 8:00 Chelmsford 

 

Hajara 

 

Nice physical, showed plenty amidst greenness. Lugged round the bend but once straightened up, she changed her legs a few times and ran on very nicely. This was a very good debut and she should be winning NTO 1m2+ .

 

10th May – 4:05 Cork 

 

Promise Given 

 

Showed plenty here, moving well in behind horses. Could never get a run and finished under tender handling. Wont have learnt much from this unfortunately but has shown plenty of raw ability. Should go well in maidens nto 

 

10th May – 6:34 Nottingham 

 

Mount Atlas 

 

Educational ride after unseating on debut. In rear after slow break, let other horses make effort early and was asked for his effort late. Ran on well under tender handling, clocking decent closing sectionals in the process. Clearly not as useful as the winner of this but this run will have gone under the radar and will get a price nto. 10-12f will be fine 


11th May – 3:40 Naas

Like this. Moved ok in rear, tried to challenge stand side but was ultimately following the wrong horses and he had no racing room. was switched across the track but the winner had gone. clocked strong final furlong and he should be bet over 6/7f this season.


11th May – 7:25 Leicester 


Thewind Cries Mary


Nice debut. slow away in rear, driven along when making really big move in F4, made challenge but was green and ultimately let her self down. Will improve plenty for that and should be backed next time 7-8f

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
