The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 29/05/24

A very slight profit of +1.33 means it was back to back profit for the first time in a while, albeit nothing to shout too loudly about... Symbol of Hope winning readily at 100/30 and Sergeant Wilko winning gamely at 3/1 secure a slight profit from 7 selections. Let’s hope for more of the same this week.

Wednesday

14:10 Beverley - Evocative Spark

A runner here from the Chester review blog and one I think is certain to pop up soon and hopefully that day is tomorrow. Drops down from a 69-88 into a 56-75 and this is his first class 5 handicap on his 24th handicap start. Can't believe he managed to finish 3rd at Chester given he was 4 off the rail at one point, seems to go well at this C&D too, finishing 2nd and Winning off a mark of 76, where he won by 5L. Can see 2 front runners here on paper that we'd ideally sit just behind, being Mickey Mongoose and Challet.

Thursday

16:50 Ripon - Woodleigh

Last 2 runs for this lad have just been weird to say the least. Looked outpaced early, then come back on the bridle, found trouble then flew home. Granted they could find a 65 for him, but this looks a weak 70. If he can find the bridle early, he has a chance here.

Friday

15:25 Carlisle - Profiteer

The Easterby's had a few this year so far that improved for the run once handicapping and you'd think this horse would follow that profile, dropping from a 68 into a 55 now with fitness on his side too he should be going close here. His best run in his maidens was over a stiff 5 furlongs, so a stiff finish just shy of 6 furlongs looks ideal.

19:55 Catterick - Vadamiah

This is her course and distance, especially if she can get free in front. 2-3 here in handicaps. Will see the race after declarations though. She did however have a great comeback run showing she's still in good form.

Saturday

17:20 Musselburgh - Showmedemoney

Has showed signs of life in the spring at Newcastle where it’s extremely difficult to make all. Won’t be as hard here if can make it alone. 11lb below last winning mark, which was his last start on turf in 2023, also came off a short break, which applies here. Interesting runner, will assess after decs.

19:45 Lingfield - Piz Nair

An unbelievable run to finish 3rd really, to overcome his sluggish start and a big pace bias, winner made all, then the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th all tracking the leader spread across the track. Doesn’t look to have the early speed for 6 anymore so delighted they’re trying a bit further here.

Sunday

17:40 Hamilton - Warda Jemila

Instead of taking on Swanny here, I’m gunna join him. No problems taking on her elders at Ascot on her handicap debut where she made mince meat of a mark of 80. In receipt of a 12lb allowance here again and has to give her every chance.

Monday

17:45 Windsor - Aidan Andabettin

Really like his 3rd from AW Finals day. Looked genuine when asked for an effort here and stuck on well. Tried to chase a 101 rated horses off 78 that day and beaten 1/2L by Mart who won tonight off 75. He was somehow dropped 1lb for that…

20:15 Windsor - Grey Owl

Slightly more obvious one here so will be price dependant but unlucky not to get the clearest of runs last time, now not saying the winner who backed up again tonight (Tuesday when writing this), raised a lb for his troubles there and he looked to have more than that up his sleeve.
