The Neighsayers - Epsom Oak's Day Tips

2:35 - Racehorse Lotto Handicap 1m ½f   The Horse I want to be onside here is  RHOSCOLYN . Owned by a very shrood outfit, this horse continues with promise despite tumbling in the weights. Perhaps a bit more cut in the ground would be better for  RHOSCOLYN , but with the news of watering all week I don’t see the ground being an issue. The horse is 1/1 at the track and was last seen finishing midfield in the Victoria Cup at ascot, racing on the dreaded “far side rail” and showing again that his dropping mark is there to be exploited. I like others in the Neighsayers expected him to be put away for a Royal Ascot handicap but lining up here tells me he’s bang ready to take a big pot, and I’ll advise a play each way here.    Selection – Rhoscolyn 6/1 EW   3:10 - Dalhbury Coronation Cup 1m4f   Another Group 1 which has only attracted a small field, but 5 of which set this up to be an absolute cracker. The winner for me in this is last year’s derby 2nd,...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 22nd - 28th May 2023

Weekly Eye-Catchers – 22 nd   – 28 th   May 2023   22 nd  May – 7:55 Roscommon    Believe Me Now   Nicely buried on handicap debut by trainer/jockey Andrew Slattery. Slightly convenient after a nice drift from 20s to 75 on the machine pre off, slowly away, travelled well in rear, picked up well when asked but jockey has gone for an invisible gap on the rail completely stopping the horse, was switched across the track afterwards but never nearer. Look to back in handicaps over 10-12f. Will get a nice price.   22 nd  May – 8:35 Windsor    Broad Appeal   Nice run here from the old boy. Travelled well into the race under inexperienced 7lb claimer, made nice headway ran on into a good 5 th . 16lb below last winning mark, will be keen to keep onside at Windsor with an experienced jockey booked. Low grade winner in waiting.   24 th  May – 3:40 Yarmouth    Mantra    Biggest Eye-Catcher of the week. First d...

The Neighsayers - Irish Guineas Weekend Tips

Irish Guineas Weekend Tips No twitter spaces call for us this week due to other commitments, so it would be rude not to do a write up regarding our selections for the weekend. Lewis and Quinny have put their heads together to churn out Some nice EW bets along with the sole selection on Sunday, Hopefully the selections can do the business. Stay lucky. 4:25 York Class 3 1m Handicap  This race is as to be expected when you get Saturday handicaps on the Knavesmire, ultra-competitive. There’s plenty of horses in this race for flashy connections, but I’m siding with the Martin Webb Racing owned THEME PARK. I thought he posted a career best run last time out, which might seem mental to say considering that was his lowest finishing position in his races to date. He showed a much-needed return to form that day and I’m putting that also down to quicker ground. He'll retain the quicker ground back on the Knavesmire and along with the extra furlong here, he should be prim...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 15th -21st May 2023

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 15 th   – 21 st   May 2023   16 th  May - 4:50 Catterick    Prince Achille   Well enough backed giving the makeup of this runner, 0 from 15 but showed abit at Catterick to suggest his first win is just round the corner. Traveling very well when no clear run, gaps came too late ran on under hand riding. Should be going close in low grade 12f handicaps. Runs on Monday 22 nd   17 th  May – 2:05 Chepstow   Vidi Vici    Missed break, green in rear, didn’t really know how to race properly early but got the hang of things late ran on under hands and heels, looks a good bet in maidens at your lesser tracks.   17 th  May – 2:25 Beverley    Sherrifs Call    Swerved start badly right, recovered into rear of mid div, travelling well when jockey seemed to lose irons when challenging, then wasn’t knocked about at all. Will be a nice price in maidens NTO, back over 5 or 6f.   17 th ...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 8th - 14th May 2023

Weekly Eyecatchers 8 th  – 14 th  May 2023   8 th  May – Southwell 2:35   Kaolinite   Ran green, pushed along responded well, not clear run multiple times, gaps late ran on into close 3 rd  . Will be more streetwise NTO , and should be followed with interest in 5f-6f Novice/maiden.   8 th  May – Worcester 4:50    Floating Rock    Rare Jumps Eyecatcher , Be shocked if he gets away with this ride, not off a yard, jockey was getting too close to the places so he gives it the chicken wing treatment, minimal effort into hurdles, eased for strides on all of them stopping the horse from progressing through the race. Back when he has a proper jockey booked.   9 th  May – Lingfield    Expert Witness    Shaped well in previous runs, Huge price on the machine for 3 rd  run in a novice , what will work out a very strong novice in time. Out the back from a flag start, never put in the races or knocked...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 1st - 7th May 2023

Weekly Eyecatchers 1 st  – 7 th  May 2023   1 st  May – 2:25 Curragh    Drumroll   Really like this as a type, full brother to Saxon Warrior. Impressed on debut winning from unpromising position on ground what I thought wouldn’t have suited, but he backed that up again today on heavy ground what you can mark-up massively. His dam was much better on good ground, along with the majority of Drumrolls sires progeny. Genuine group winner in waiting on better ground.   1 st  May – 5:18 Bath    Covertly    7/2 out to 20s on the day, but ran with significant promise, held up ran keen on the rail, passed horses quite easily but was never put in the race or asked to challenge. Has a mark of 46 what is more than exploitable in weak races over 7f-1m. May be wise to follow the money.   2 nd  May – 3: 10 Nottingham    Zarga    Like this as a type, ran a nice race on testing ground, ran asif he will come on ...

It’s  that time of the year again the first Classics of the season have rolled around and this campaign more than any other we are provided with a variety of intriguing questions. Here is a quick look at the 2000 guineas, the key contenders, and the possible outcome of this truly historic race.   The  Probables Auguste Rodin  (13/8) Trainer – A P O’Brien Jockey – Ryan Moore Form – 2111 There’s only one place to start and that’s with the favourite  Auguste Rodin . An impressive winner of the  Vertem  Futurity on testing ground on his final start at 2, he’s generated a massive amount of talk over the Winter with his trainer, the Master of  Ballydoyle  Aidan O’Brien, exciting the racing public by making clear his desire to attempt the elusive Triple Crown with this Colt. Stamina assured this first foal of multiple  G roup 1 winning mare  Rhododendron  will be sure to see out the mile better than most, but will he have the g...
