The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 22nd - 28th May 2023
Weekly Eye-Catchers – 22nd – 28th May 2023
22nd May – 7:55 Roscommon
Believe Me Now
Nicely buried on handicap debut by trainer/jockey Andrew Slattery. Slightly convenient after a nice drift from 20s to 75 on the machine pre off, slowly away, travelled well in rear, picked up well when asked but jockey has gone for an invisible gap on the rail completely stopping the horse, was switched across the track afterwards but never nearer. Look to back in handicaps over 10-12f. Will get a nice price.
22nd May – 8:35 Windsor
Broad Appeal
Nice run here from the old boy. Travelled well into the race under inexperienced 7lb claimer, made nice headway ran on into a good 5th. 16lb below last winning mark, will be keen to keep onside at Windsor with an experienced jockey booked. Low grade winner in waiting.
24th May – 3:40 Yarmouth
Mantra
Biggest Eye-Catcher of the week. First day at School, Slowly away gave away at-least 5l, green in rear, niggled made nice headway ran on under educational ride for a strong 4th. Will win next time out over 5f or 6f. looks a smart type what I'm excited to follow.
25th May – 8:12 Sandown
Yaanaas
Ran well in circumstances, travelled well on rail, no clear run jockey had to sit and wait for too long, found gaps late but race was already lost. Ran on under tender riding. Look to play in 1m handicaps on quick ground.
26th May – 3:50 Haydock
Queens Reign
Nicely bred type, green early needed bumping to educate round bend. Travelled nicely through horses under hand riding. Lovely education for a 2yo Filly. Picked up nicely through horses running on into 3rd. Look to back next time in a maiden over 7f. Nice type
26th May – 8:30 Curragh
Old Peculiar
2nd time Hes made the Eyecatchers column. Float up at the Curragh today, travelled smoothly but was allowed to drop back through progressing horses, pushed along but never asked to go fully, tenderly handled. Follow with interest throughout the season because he is still very well handicapped. May be wise to follow the money…..
27th May – 4:15 Curragh
Canute
Over raced early but settled into the race well, travelled strongly when no clear run, jockey had to sit and wait for gap, 1st and 2nd came over the top while CANUTE was just starting his run, ran on strongly into 4th. Should be going close if not winning over 8f+.
