The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 8th - 14th May 2023
Weekly Eyecatchers 8th – 14th May 2023
8th May – Southwell 2:35
Kaolinite
Ran green, pushed along responded well, not clear run multiple times, gaps late ran on into close 3rd . Will be more streetwise NTO , and should be followed with interest in 5f-6f Novice/maiden.
8th May – Worcester 4:50
Floating Rock
Rare Jumps Eyecatcher , Be shocked if he gets away with this ride, not off a yard, jockey was getting too close to the places so he gives it the chicken wing treatment, minimal effort into hurdles, eased for strides on all of them stopping the horse from progressing through the race. Back when he has a proper jockey booked.
9th May – Lingfield
Expert Witness
Shaped well in previous runs, Huge price on the machine for 3rd run in a novice , what will work out a very strong novice in time. Out the back from a flag start, never put in the races or knocked about but travelled well enough to suggest she has a decent level of ability. Look to back on handicap debut over 7f or 1m.
11th May – Southwell 3:00
Moulin Booj
Came last here on debut but wasn’t devoid of promise. Slow away, Showed enough speed to suggest he has enough ability to make up into a decent sprinter in time. Nicely buried today, Trainer likes to run them for a mark so I would recommend backing him in sprint handicaps.
11th May – Thirsk 6:40
Selbys Joy
2nd time shes made an appearance in the Eyecatchers whilst running for a mark. Buried by Tom Eaves both times but showed more than enough to place or go close in the races if she was let loose. Really interested to see what mark this gets, hopefully in the mid 50s then were all in on handicap debut over 5f-6f, would like to see a decent size break before her next run.
12th May – 3:35 Ascot
Quiet Sea
Ran a great race on debut, in what I think will be a decent little maiden. Raced keenly and fresh, didn’t really settle fully. Will be miles better with that run under her belt hailing from a yard what never have them fully wound up for a racecourse debut. Back NTO.
13th May – Ascot 2:40
Rhoscolyn
Ran well on the back of a wind op, wasn’t knocked about ran on past beaten horses on the far side of the track. Got a nice mark for a Royal Ascot handicap, 6lb lower than his 3rd last year in the Buckingham Palace Stakes. Keep onside at the Royal Meeting.
13th May – Lingfield 4:10
Swiss Pride
Dropped to a nice mark for Saturday’s race but pace bias wasn’t in his favour, was in a very unfavourable track position and was given loads to do, ran on under tender handling while the 1-2-3 were all ridden handy. On a handy mark for a 6f race round Lingfield.
