The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 22nd - 28th July 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 22 nd  – 28 th  July 2024   24 th  July – 3:10 Catterick    Harvesting    Never put in the race from the rear. Race was developing and the jockey sat where he should have started winding the horse up, but this cost him his track pozzy and was never in a position to challenge. She ran on pretty well late into 4 th  against a fair pace bias as all the placed horses were always prominent. This was a very good run, and she will be very progressive once going into Nurserys.    26 th  July – 5:30 York    Carnival Zain    Looks ready to win now, ran well here but no luck in running, would have gone much closer and hes dropped to a workable mark now. 7f-8f is fine and he should be backed. Jockey bookings may tell us more when declared. 27 th  July – 3:10 Newcastle    Fuel The Fire    Showed up better here, race prominently and stayed there for long enough, I feel that he ...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing In Yorkshire 27/7/24

The Go Racing In Yorkshire has been a great week showcasing gods own courses and we end the week at arguably not just the best track in Yorkshire but in the UK, York.  It’s been a poor end to the week on my part so let’s hope we can savage something today with a sole selection! 14.40 - Sky Bet Dash Handicap (Class 2) 6f A competitive dash as expected but I’m liking the look of the Richard Hannon trained Dapper Valley. Lightly raced, his season form to the eye looks patchy but his runs have came with excuses.  He ran a credible 3rd on reappearance, drawn away from the main action that day at Newmarket. We then saw him at the July meeting, where hold up tactics were not suited to how the track was running that week. He then had to give heaps of weight away to his rivals at Windsor, racing wide which is not an advantage at the course.  His runs this season have seen him finish behind market leader Trefor. However, he’s given at least a stone away to this rival in them ...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing in Yorkshire 26/7/24

The Go Racing In Yorkshire Festival enters its penultimate day with meetings at both Thirsk and York, let’s hope we can improve on yesterday and have a solid end to the week.  Thirsk -  16.55 - Racing Excellence Apprentice Handicap (Class 6) 5f Bottom end stuff here but consistency is key in these races and that’s what we’ve seen this season from The Grey Lass. She’s not easy to win with being 1-29 but she’s been running very well in defeat and is off the basement mark here getting weight from here rivals. I think today’s the day we see her notch a 2nd win of her career.  Selection - The Grey Lass (13/2 General)  York -  17.30 - Eventmasters.co.uk Handicap (Class 4) 5f Leadenhall was a big eyecatcher in a recent class 3 sprint over C&D and I fancy him to get the Job done down in class today. A winner at 3 for Ralph Beckett he’s had a pretty consistent career to this point in this sphere. He’s drawn well and I’m expecting another big performance today a...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing In Yorkshire 25/7/24

We return to our local track Doncaster for this edition of the Go Racing In Yorkshire Festival. A tough looking card with plenty of competitive races for the grades today. 15.05 - Sky Bet Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap (Class 4) 6f  Now much of the market as expected will be taken by the hat trick seeking Daring Legend who goes unpenalised for his recent win in an apprentice race at Yarmouth, but I think this leaves us with some juice in the price in my selection, Showhound.  He showed up on reappearance at Beverley in a 5f Handicap, finishing down in 9th. I took from this run that the Fahey team were keen to get a run into this one, he should shape much better over his preferred trip today. His 2yo form reads well and I’m happy to cover Showhound ew against the warm fav today.  Selection - Showhound EW (28/1 General, 2 Places. 25/1 Sky 3 Places, 18/1 Bet365 3 places)  17.20 - Cambion Electrics Handicap (Class 5) 6f A handicap here which contains a l...

The Neighsayers - Racing League Week 1

The Racing League is back so it's only right that the weekly series returns too! Last year's figures we're posted on twitter last night but will repeat them here, who doesn't love a trumpet, right?  39 bets from 42 races featuring 11 winners and 6 placed efforts (43.59% win or place strike rate) with the P/L from advised prices being +52.60 and the P/L from SP's being +36.38. Like last year, win bets will be 1pt win and e/w bets will be 0.5pt e/w. We thought London & The South would win it overall last year but their effort was short lived and Ireland came away with the spoils having needed to go to Southwell to get a result. Who wins this year? Well probably Island again. Seemed to have got even more support from Irish/Non-Irish trainers and with the addition of Billy Loughnane, why wouldn't they go close again? Let's get into this year's action; Race 1 - 12f handicap Hoping that Team East can get off to a flying start here, THE THUNDERER is now in...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing in Yorkshire 24/7/24

After Quinnys Beverley winner and a day off from the festival we return to Catterick at the half way stage and I’ve a couple of selections for today’s meeting.  16.10 - Sky Bet Supporting Matt Hampson Foundation Handicap (Class 6) 7f I couldn’t let this meeting go without an honourable mention for my Horse to Follow La La Lucrative who I think will certainly be in the frame tomorrow. He ran a never dangerous 5th on his first attempt at the trip last month, but has since been gelded which I think will see an improvement as he tends to start his races keenly. The Hood has also been introduced again tomorrow which tells me they think tomorrow could be his day. Down 2lb and with a neat draw in 4, La La Lucrative is a definite play for me here.  Selection - La La Lucrative EW (13/2 4pl Bet365, Betfred, Coral, Lads)  16.40 - Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap (Class 6) 1m 4f Calmer waters here for the Newmarket raider Prince Maxi who I feel may have b...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead Week 28

Quinny has taken the reigns this week’s the week ahead. Plenty of horses to go at this week. Lewis should be back next week. Good luck all.  Tuesday  2:45 Musselburgh - Music History  Caught eye on debut, showed loads of speed but bombed out 2nd time out. Quiet run the last day when never knocked about, I can see a mark of 64 looking more than workable going into nursery’s.  Thursday  2:10 Sandown - Spring Bloom  Much better run the last day at Newmarket, dropped 2lb for it also what’s a bonus. Finds him self 12&14lb lower than C&D placed efforts last year. Should go well providing he gets a clear run  Double entered - Samoon Star  Won really well on handicap debut, value for the winning distance. Should be a progressive type and can win again here. 1m2 looks fine for her and she can take the steps up in class in her stride  6:50 Leopardstown - Surpass  Have been really impressed with him in two starts to date. Showed he is versa...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing In Yorkshire 22/7/24

8:00 Beverley – 7 1/2f Handicap    Looks a poor heat this and I feel the fav is worth taking on at the prices with  KING SHARJA . He has showed up well whilst dropping down the ratings since joining Ruth Carr’s yard and this will be the weakest race, he has contested yet. He has shown a liking for the C&D recently and shouldn’t be far away in this.    Twilight Jazz will make the running but I’m hoping Martons Head takes him on setting it up for the horses in behind. King Sharja is a strong traveller and the writing will be on the wall fairly early into the straight. 9/2 Looks fair without getting be giddy, but I feel he should have a good chance in this line up.   Selection – King Sharja 5/1 Hills, BF, Paddy     8:30 Beverley – 1m2f Handicap    Competitive handicap but  DANDY’S ANGEL  has been slowing coming to form in recent start, including a good 4 th  over C&D in much better company. He won this race last year ...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing in Yorkshire 21/07/2024

Blog 3 of the festival! Day 2 was off to an absolute cracker with a game performance by Prepschool taking the spoils at 9/4 sp from the 7/2 advised. Diamondonthehill drifted throughout the day before solidifying at 14/1. He ran with credit I thought but ultimately was caught out by the draw I thought, a may be one to take forward.  Let’s hope for another winner at the sole meeting today, coming from Redcar!  17.02 - Racing TV Start Your Free Trial Handicap (Class 6) This looks a typical heat in which Declan Carrol nicely places one of his horses and I can see that being the case with Mist Rollin In. He was strong at the line on his previous run at Wetherby, the step up to 9f should benefit. Zak Wheatley’s 3lb is also a bonus and I think he takes the spoils here.  Selection - Mist Rollin In (9/2 Hill, 4/1 BF Paddy Coral Lads)

The Neighsayers - Go Racing In Yorkshire 20/7/24

Starting with an Overview of Yesterdays selections, Harstwood was one I got completely wrong, weak before the off a slowly away, the writing was on the wall for this early and it ran like one.   When Moon was bullied out of position from the gates and although short of room opened the rail was closed off by the runaway winner in the end. There definitely a race in him off the current mark… Anyway, Day 2 of the Go Racing in Yorkshire Festival bring us 2 meetings at both Doncaster and Ripon!  Ripon -  15.20 - Sky Bet Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Festival Handicap (Class 4) A nice looking 9 runner handicap here and I like the southern raider Prepschool for the Michael Bell team. He returned to calmer waters for his last start in which he ran a credible 3rd to 2 well handicapped horses at Sandown. 5/1 seems more than fair and I think we’ll see a big run from Prepschool here.  Selection - Prepschool (11/4 General) Doncaster - 19.45 - Napoleons Casino and Restaurant...

The Neighsayers - Go Racing in Yorkshire 19/7/24

Go Racing in Yorkshire! Your fav Yorkshireman is back from a bit of a quiet period and I thought I’d focus on the Go Racing in Yorkshire race week, I’ll bring you a daily blog on the key meetings in Gods County this week and hopefully find a few winners along the way! I’ll start with a the specials markets as they’re abit of a novelty but I have had a couple of plays in them.. GRIY Top Jockey The festival run over 9 days and includes 10 race meetings in that time, starting at Pontefract tomorrow and ending on Sat 27th July at York. In the Top Jockey market, I’ve highlighted 2 jockeys in which I think may have a good chance of taking top spot.  Tom Eaves has been enjoying a good season in the saddle, picking up some good rides across the north and I expect that to continue this week. At 8/1 he seems a fairly solid option. The same can be said for Jo Mason, who has already picked up 40+ wins this season. She’s priced a very fair 16/1 and I expect grandad Mick might have a few laid ou...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 8th -14th July 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 8th - 14th July 2024   9 th  July – 8:05 Uttoxeter    Silver Pageant    Irish raiders 2 nd  trip over to the UK and the ground has changed since decs on both starts. I think this will be seen to much better effect on good ground and she hasn’t been seen to best effect as of yet. She was held up last in a desperately slow run race, was impossible for her to come off the pace. She can do much better than this and she should be backed in bumpers/maiden hurdles on better ground.   10 th  July – 7:30 Fairyhouse    Emporio    Very good run after a year off the track. Travelled strongly and was coming with a winning run when he had the door shut on him, finished on the bridle. His problems have hopefully been sorted and he should be followed over 7-8f this year.   11 th  July – 5:10 Leopardstown    Tofino    Steadied start, never put in the race. Moderate headway under hand riding....

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead - Week 27

There was literally no in between last week, the winners gagged up and the losers, well they're all probably still running now. Finished on -2.5pts, frustrating but just need to work harder! Cumulative total of +21.14 points overall. Let's get into this week. Wednesday 16:30 Lingfield - Big Bug First nursery bet of the year here and thought this one was fairly priced. Has a few bits and pieces of form that make me think 66 is workable. 2nd to Love Talk at Redcar who came 4th in a French listed race. 3rd behind Englemere rated 86. 3rd again behind Betty Clover R90 and Englemere again R86, Infront of Flicka's Girl R77. Best performance was 6 furlongs soft ground, returns to that here and can overturn the form with the favourite, Forever My Prince. 18:10 Kempton - Tambourine Dream Whilst the favourite did well last time to force a dead heat, if the other jockey had kept riding the horse out he'd not have been close, so think he's a loser carrying a penalty here. Happy ...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 1st-7th July 2024

Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 1 st  – 7 th  July    2 nd  July – 8:20 Roscommon    Cast a spell    Did show up well here. Desperately slow away, did well to get into a position to challenge and was doing all the best work late. can go well in your lesser 1m4+ Maidens if the slow starts arnt a regular thing.   4 th  July – 3:00 Yarmouth    Toy Soldier    Held up in rear, did move well and when niggled did respond, pushed along and ran on well for a never nearer 7 th . Hopefully the handicapper doesn’t hammer him for this as this was a much better run than his previous runs. Ill Reassess once hes given a mark as I think he could be well worth following into Nursery’s. Shaped Asif a stiff 6f or 7f would suit.

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead - Week 26

Much better last week, but could've been better still if I wasn't an idiot, but somethings just don't change. +2.5 pts last week thanks to Law of Average bolting in at 4/1 and Minnesota Lad winning at 7/2. Will give a brief mention to Four Adaay again, not sure this was there to win at Yarmouth, went looking for trouble, found it and then dropped his reigns... one for another day definitely. As for Havana Pusey, well I deserve every bit of stick I got for that. 8/1 SP winning nicely and was as big as 16's in the morning. Left alone due to the weight allowance's the 3yo's get in those races now and definitely made me think you can look into these things too much. Anyway enough of that, let's get this weeks. Wednesday 16:40 Musselburgh - Sulte Alshams Stamina to prove here but has given impressions that he will stay and he's the first one from his dam by a real staying sire. Main angle here is he looks like the only pace angle in the race at a place where ...
