The Neighsayers - Go Racing In Yorkshire 27/7/24

The Go Racing In Yorkshire has been a great week showcasing gods own courses and we end the week at arguably not just the best track in Yorkshire but in the UK, York.

It’s been a poor end to the week on my part so let’s hope we can savage something today with a sole selection!

14.40 - Sky Bet Dash Handicap (Class 2) 6f

A competitive dash as expected but I’m liking the look of the Richard Hannon trained Dapper Valley. Lightly raced, his season form to the eye looks patchy but his runs have came with excuses.

He ran a credible 3rd on reappearance, drawn away from the main action that day at Newmarket. We then saw him at the July meeting, where hold up tactics were not suited to how the track was running that week. He then had to give heaps of weight away to his rivals at Windsor, racing wide which is not an advantage at the course.

His runs this season have seen him finish behind market leader Trefor. However, he’s given at least a stone away to this rival in them runs, and after back to back wins from the fav they reoppose now with Dapper Valley being 2lbs better off thanks to the 3lb claim of Voikhansky. I think things can fall right for Dapper Valley today.

He’s had a decent break, a recent gelding operation which should spark improvement and arrives fresh, taking weight from most rivals. He’s drawn well in 8 to get enough cover, and at York he should get more than enough chance to be played late and he’s being slightly overlooked in the market to me .

Selection - Dapper Valley EW (16/1 General)
