The Neighsayers - Go Racing in Yorkshire 19/7/24
Go Racing in Yorkshire!
Your fav Yorkshireman is back from a bit of a quiet period and I thought I’d focus on the Go Racing in Yorkshire race week, I’ll bring you a daily blog on the key meetings in Gods County this week and hopefully find a few winners along the way!
I’ll start with a the specials markets as they’re abit of a novelty but I have had a couple of plays in them..
GRIY Top Jockey
The festival run over 9 days and includes 10 race meetings in that time, starting at Pontefract tomorrow and ending on Sat 27th July at York. In the Top Jockey market, I’ve highlighted 2 jockeys in which I think may have a good chance of taking top spot.
Tom Eaves has been enjoying a good season in the saddle, picking up some good rides across the north and I expect that to continue this week. At 8/1 he seems a fairly solid option. The same can be said for Jo Mason, who has already picked up 40+ wins this season. She’s priced a very fair 16/1 and I expect grandad Mick might have a few laid out for her this week. I’ve had a fun small bet on both.
GRIY Top Trainer
I was very surprised to find Craig Lidster at 20/1 in the top trainers market for this. He targets these local Yorkshire tracks and is operating at a fair strike rate this season. Tom Eaves also picks up the odd ride for this yard so hopefully we can be on a winning combo come Saturday!
Right, onto the proper stuff! We start the Festival at Ponte Carlo tomorrow evening…
19.20 - Sky Bey Go-Racing-In-Yorkshire Summer Handicap (Class 4)
In a race where a few horses re-oppose each other, my best bet on the card is the Richard Fahey trained Hartswood. A consistent horse over the years, he comes here off the same mark having run a cracker at Newcastle from an unfavoured draw. He gets a plum draw here for front running tactics which should suit at Ponte. Zozimus has been pretty solid in defeat this season, but hartswood comes into this on 3lb better terms. Alethiometer also looks a danger having had no luck in running last time but hold up tactics at this track might see a reoccurrence of that today. At the prices available Hartswood looks a great bet.
Selection - Hartswood (3/1 Betfair, Paddy, Unibet, 5/2 Elsewhere)
19.55 - Always Trying Racing Syndicate Handicap (Class 4)
Nice little sprint heat here and I’m going to be playing the Ben Haslam trained Wen Moon. He’s been in solid form of late, and was unlucky in his recent race at York, having been sluggish from the gate. The race before he ran a brilliant 2nd to Room Service, now rated 105 and a winner of a valuable 2yo race at Doncaster. At 11/2 and the 3 places on offer, I think Wen Moon can get the job done from a nice draw in 3.
Selection - Wen Moon EW (4/1 Coral & Lads, 7/2 Hills, Unibet, 3/1 Otherwise)
Best of luck and we’ll be back for day 2 of the festival tomorrow. Stay Lucky š¤š»
