The Neighsayers - Flat Horses To Follow Season Review 2023

The Neighsayers – Flat Horses to Follow 2023 Review    Espionage  (Galileo x Even Song)  Trainer –  A P O’Brien  Rating –  112/109 (-3)   The horse that could have been. Highly promising at 2yo but an early season injury just after we published the document scuppered any chances of him hitting the hights we once thought.   Did make a more than good enough comeback at Roscommon, where he took out a listed race in very nice style, shaping Asif the further he went in trip the better. Went on then to run at Glorious Goodwood but his fragilities were easily exposed as he trailed in a disappointing last. Clearly not been right as he hasn’t been seen on a track since, what is a shame as he had bags of potential. One that got away.   Lakota Blue  (Sioux Nation x Thiel)  Trainer  – Nigel Tinker  Rating  – 85/85 (0)   Whilst the horses rating has maintained throughout the year, this was one fantastic shout by Swanny. ...

The Week Ahead - 28/02/2024

Back again after a profitable week last week, finishing +12.5 at ISP with 3 winners from 5 runners. Few runners in the week ahead didn’t end up being a bet and they were highlighted in the WhatsApp, which is something we were hoping the community would allow us to do. Direct communication with you all, rather than on Twitter, where you may miss certain tweets etc. let’s get into this week; Wednesday No bets at Kempton, swiftly moving on. Thursday 17:30 Chelmsford - Dubai Station Everything just looks perfect for this horse. He loves to come off a strong pace, 4 runners declared against him and all 4 runners are best seen prominent. Would just prefer it away from Chelmsford but here we are. Won a class 2 handicap this time last year in similar circumstances off 92. Strong selection. Friday Lingfield racing is excellent Friday. Worth its own blog, so that’ll go live Thursday night. 19:30 Newcastle - Streak Lightning Very good horse when things go right for him, seems to just find tr...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 19th - 25th Feb 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 19 th -25 th  Feb 2024   20 th  Feb – 8:00 Newcastle   Sir Benedict    Starting to become a frustrating follow but did run a great race in the circumstances here. Got badly hampered at the start, lost all chance in my opinion, picked up the bridle in rear and did challenge for a place, ran on late into third. Ill be giving him a few more chances in 5f Classifieds. Holds entry on the 27 th  Southwell, will back him if price is right.   24 th  Feb – 3:55 Southwell    Orchard Park    Nice run amidst greenness. Slow away but didn’t lose any ground. Travelled well but when asked rolled around, did pick up well in the end but was too late. 3 rd  here was a good run and I can imagine she will be much better next time out 5-6f.   24 th  Feb – 4:35 Newcastle    Raffles Wonder    Keen in rear, exerted too much energy by racing inefficiently, needs to settle much better to play a...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 21/02/2023

Up and then down first 6 weeks of the week ahead, with the first 3 being profitable then the 3 following being losing weeks, luckily the the winning outweighed the losing and we're back on the winning path this week, hopefully. Thursday 20:30 Newcastle - Mehmo Been waiting for this one to reappear in a suitable race, should get that here. Strong pace to aim at is ideal and shouldn't be far away. Friday 15:15 Lingfield - Jolly Jack Tar Nice enough debut behind a well fancied horse under the Godolphin banner. Gosden's normally come on for the run and this looks a good place to start. Likely favourite. 20:30 Wolverhampton - Dembe Let's try again with him shall we. We all saw how unfortunate he was the last day and look a decent enough opportunity here to go close again, although a better race in terms of rating last time, doesn't look to be on paper... Saturday 17:50 Chelmsford - Runaround Sioux Shown more than enough ability to my eye for her to be a serious propositi...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 12th-18th Feb 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 12 th  – 18 th  Feb 2024   13 th  Feb – 7:00 Newcastle    Tees Douge    Nice run on return. Always had him down as an AW horse and he ran a very good race here. Maybe if getting a clear run earlier he could have gone closer but didn’t get the gaps when needed. Keep onside over 5-6f on the AW.   16 th  Feb – 4:57 Dundalk    Highland Mist    Showed little bit more here than he has on first 2 starts. Wasn’t really knocked about and stewards had a word after the race. Jocks said he didn’t really handle the track, may be a poor excuse but ill take his word and start following this into handicaps on the turf.   17 th  Feb – 8:15 Wolverhampton    Powdering    Nice bounce back to form of a reduced mark. Had to go down the inside what didn’t look the place to be at all. I will be keeping onside at Southwell and Wolverhampton over 7f.   18 th  Feb – 7:00 Kempton  ...

The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday 16/02/2024

It's been a quiet few weeks in terms of friday's and the AW action but we have two tomorrow we rate decent chances, as well as the week ahead runner if you haven't seen that already, sorry for the shameless plug... 18:30 Dundalk - Smart Impression Has pretty decent form as a 2yo lasy year, including 7th in a group 3, only beaten ~7.5L. He's shown a taking to the AW being placed 4th here at Dundalk over both 5 and 6 furlongs. He caught they aye last time having been slow away on his first start since late august, so a bit of ring rust can be excused. He reoppose's with Coulsty on the back of that, who I rate the danger here but think we should have him covered despite being a couple of lb worse off. I think SMART IMPRESSION will improve more than that with the step up in trip and benefit of the run. Slight negative, the dam never produced a winner, however a caveat is that one was running over a trip that wasn't suited to the family and the other sibling was sti...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 14/2/24

Another slighty losing week last week, finishing on -0.5 pts at SP, with just the 1 winner being Larado, but on another week, could've easily been 3 or 4. Let's hope that week is this week... Wednesday 19:00 Kempton - Fivethousandtoone He's got a better chance here than his name suggests... should be a decent pace on which brings him into play late on. Chipstead will go forward, Batal Dubai will be prominent and has been keen along with Blind Beggar too. Should be arriving fast and late. Longer straight will suit more than somewhere like Lingfield has done. Thursday 15:47 Southwell - Northern Spirit Have no qualms he's well handicapped, given his form in higher grades. Should be okay of what's likely a steady pace. She's Centimental will go forward but can be keen, Seven Brothers has fared best for old connections from the front, Sluzewiec also has race prominently before, but second guessing Dixon will leave you in the poor house.  16:53 Southwell - Daytona Be...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 5th - 11th Feb 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 5 th  – 11 th  Feb 2024   5 th  Feb – 5:30 Southwell    Mariners Way    Showed glimpses of ability here again, never fully put in the race but showed enough here when looking for a mark. Id be looking to follow her into handicaps over 6f off marks in the low 60s. races to be won with her.   6 th  Feb – 5:30 Wolverhampton    On Cloud    The penny is slowly starting to drop with this lightly raced filly. Could never get involved in a shambles of a race from off the pace, was the only horse to push for the places from off the pace after 3 horses went clear. Very gold run against pace bias and she should be followed in her next couple of runs, she would benefit from a semi competent jockey on also.   6 th  Feb – 7:30 Wolverhampton    Love Your Work    Not been trying too hard for his new yard over trips what arnt to suit. Always outpaced again here over 5f, feel sorry for ...

The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 14

Floodlit Friday Week 14   8:15 Chelmsford - 1m Handicap    7 runner affair what does look quiet competitive on paper, but I couldn’t ignore the John Butler trained  SPLIT ELEVENS  at his current price of 5/1. He has been running well in defeat for a long time now, thus has dropped 6lb below his last winning mark. He first caught my eye at Chelmsford (over a slightly shorter trip than what he will face tomorrow), where he was desperately unlucky in running, having to sit and wait for the majority of the straight, was miles the best that day. Similar story LTO, slow away therefore giving himself loads to do from an impossible position, ran on very well under tender riding should have won with a clean break. Doesn’t shock me they have opted for a much better jockey here, with Daniel Muscutt taking the ride. Muscutt has rode and won on the horse before, what is a massive positive as he can be a slightly tricky customer. I feel at the current prices he is a bet, and ...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 7/2/24

First of all, can only apologise for the blank week last week, wasn't the greatest weeks racing but we were still happy to bet what we did and that's just the way the cookie crumbled. It had to happen eventually. Also, apologies this is a day late but couldn't be helped. Wednesday 17:30 Kempton - Fiddler's Elbow Definition of bumping into one last time, if horses run how they did in maiden/novice events, should get a decent set up. I'd make him clear fav here. 19:00 Kempton - Greatgadian Ran a belting race last time over 7 furlongs at Southwell, being the only one in the first 5 to make up any ground from the rear and the front 2 were prominent throughout. He's back to his favoured trip today and Oisin booked can only be a positive... 19:30 Kempton - Martini Lodge Could outrun his huge odds. Has ran well in 2 starts over 7f here, being by Muharaar, the mile trip should suit well. Did have 1 start over a mile in a kempton handicap but that was a 46-65. Today is a...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 29th Jan - 4th Feb 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 29 th  Jan – 4 th  Feb 2024   31 st  Jan – 3:35 Dundalk    Woodrow    Interesting ride to say the least, missed break bad but was then rushed up to be prominent, I expected this to weaken out of things 2f out but was Infront for a long time, weakened out of things final furlong. Nice run in the scheme of things, providing the horse hasn’t had a bad experience. Id be keeping this onside at Dundalk over 7f   1 st  Feb – 3:15 Wincanton    Bruce Gobbler   Showed a little bit more here in and around moderate horses. Wasn’t ever really asked for an effort and was schooled around for 5 th  place. Will get a mark now, anything in the 80s is workable.   2 nd  Feb – 4:40 Newcastle    Soldiers Class   Nice introduction, scopey individual with nice stride. Held up in rear, never in the race but did nice enough late work. Could be a bet in maidens NTO if isn’t too hot. High 70s horse. ...
