The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 21/02/2023

Up and then down first 6 weeks of the week ahead, with the first 3 being profitable then the 3 following being losing weeks, luckily the the winning outweighed the losing and we're back on the winning path this week, hopefully.

Thursday

20:30 Newcastle - Mehmo

Been waiting for this one to reappear in a suitable race, should get that here. Strong pace to aim at is ideal and shouldn't be far away.

Friday

15:15 Lingfield - Jolly Jack Tar

Nice enough debut behind a well fancied horse under the Godolphin banner. Gosden's normally come on for the run and this looks a good place to start. Likely favourite.

20:30 Wolverhampton - Dembe

Let's try again with him shall we. We all saw how unfortunate he was the last day and look a decent enough opportunity here to go close again, although a better race in terms of rating last time, doesn't look to be on paper...

Saturday

17:50 Chelmsford - Runaround Sioux

Shown more than enough ability to my eye for her to be a serious proposition now handicapping. Will have been brought on nicely for this. Would rate sixties chic a danger if declared…

19:20 Chelmsford - Love De Vega

Goes well round this C&D (1st & 2nd) and the dangers I rate are Ultramarine and Revolutionise and here’s he’s 5lb and 2lb better off at the weights respectively. Interesting runner.

Monday

18:00 Wolverhampton - Spiritual Pursuit

Love the fact this filly has been tried over 6 furlongs. Shown plenty of speed and a willing attitude over 7 furlongs amongst being keen. Very happy to bet if declared.

20:30 Wolverhampton - Sax Appeal

Not certain to bet this... wanting to check declarations and see the race set up. If there's no obvious pace in the race, I can see them changing tactics on this and with one of the better apprentices in weighing room currently jocked up on. It's of interest. There wouldn't be many better tactically sound 7lb claimers than Archie Young, or any claimer...

Tuesday

17:30 Southwell - David's Diva

The first Week Ahead hat trick. She was only given 2lb this morning, astonishing really... Needs a stronger pace to aim at though this time as she does creep up the ratings. Entered Saturday at Southwell but hope she swerves there as it's a good race.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
