The Week Ahead - 28/02/2024

 Back again after a profitable week last week, finishing +12.5 at ISP with 3 winners from 5 runners. Few runners in the week ahead didn’t end up being a bet and they were highlighted in the WhatsApp, which is something we were hoping the community would allow us to do. Direct communication with you all, rather than on Twitter, where you may miss certain tweets etc. let’s get into this week;


Wednesday


No bets at Kempton, swiftly moving on.


Thursday


17:30 Chelmsford - Dubai Station


Everything just looks perfect for this horse. He loves to come off a strong pace, 4 runners declared against him and all 4 runners are best seen prominent. Would just prefer it away from Chelmsford but here we are. Won a class 2 handicap this time last year in similar circumstances off 92. Strong selection.


Friday


Lingfield racing is excellent Friday. Worth its own blog, so that’ll go live Thursday night.


19:30 Newcastle - Streak Lightning


Very good horse when things go right for him, seems to just find trouble. Also needs a strong pace to aim but does go well fresh.


20:00 Newcastle - Henery Hawk


Should hold every chance back in this grade. Couldn’t go with them early and beaten by a probable pattern class horse off 83, when he raced off 63… big drop back down here and should resume winning ways.


Saturday


20:30 Wolverhampton - Miss Calculation


This just has to be D-day for this horse. Finally back to 7F round wolves, in classified company this time. Dropped down to 48 so could likely win back to back classified’s should she do this well. Very interesting.


Sunday


19:00 Newcastle - Greatgadian


Back again with this horse, seen when we were having our baron spell, snatched up at Kempton when coming with a run. Drops in trip here but a stiff test of stamina and a strong pace will do the job here.


Monday


18:30 Wolves - Perfect View


Sets a modest standard here but the rest look average. If the price is right, would happily bet.


19:00 Wolves - Ten Club


Another Jamie Osborne job that features, but they are all seemingly attractive betting propositions off low marks, doesn’t seem to have target trainer tax, yet…

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
