5th Feb – 5:30 Southwell 

 

Mariners Way 

 

Showed glimpses of ability here again, never fully put in the race but showed enough here when looking for a mark. Id be looking to follow her into handicaps over 6f off marks in the low 60s. races to be won with her.

 

6th Feb – 5:30 Wolverhampton 

 

On Cloud 

 

The penny is slowly starting to drop with this lightly raced filly. Could never get involved in a shambles of a race from off the pace, was the only horse to push for the places from off the pace after 3 horses went clear. Very gold run against pace bias and she should be followed in her next couple of runs, she would benefit from a semi competent jockey on also.

 

6th Feb – 7:30 Wolverhampton 

 

Love Your Work 

 

Not been trying too hard for his new yard over trips what arnt to suit. Always outpaced again here over 5f, feel sorry for the horse as he is being asked to go speeds he just cant. Ran very well here only beaten 2l when not knocked about, best work late. Will look to back up in trip 7-8f at Southwell or Newcastle will be fine. Starting to look well handicapped.

A horse who is in much better fettle than his form figures suggest. Don’t think he's been fully off since his win in September 2022 but he retains all ability and is a solid yard stick when he gets conditions to suit. Pure stayer in my book, and I will be betting him when he goes back up to 2m. I'll be waiting a while, but I’ve got him pencilled In for the Northumberland Plate Consolation race in late June, ideal race for him.

 

9th Feb – 5:15 Chelmsford

Career best here. Sent off a huge price, ran very well. Hung slightly away from the whip probably suggesting she is abit of a diva, but id still like to take her forward now she has shown some promise. Could see her running well 9-10f in a slightly lower grade. If connections could wait till the 11th of March, there is a nice 10k Classified over 9 ½ f at Wolverhampton what would be right up her street. Smaller bet if she rocks up in higher graded races in the interim.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
