The Neighsyayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 25th - 31st March 2021

Weekly Eye-Catchers 25 th  – 31 st  March 2024   25 th  March – 7:00 Newcastle    Lope De Rueda    Weak in the betting but showed abit here. Settled much better this time and moved into the race stylishly, cut out tamely late. Left me with the impression that this has some sort of wind issue or hes doing it all in one breath. Follow after a wind op or around a bend.   26 th  March – 2:35 Newcastle   Not Now Tayto     Kicking off the flat season Eye-Catchers with an 81 rated hurdler. Always looked outpaced here, jumping was slow but was never knocked about in rear. Crying out for a step up in trip, wouldn’t mind a fence also. Back when going up in trip.   30 th  March – 5:15 Cork    Platino Bianco     Impressed me last season in a Naas barrier trial, always moved well but never knocked about. Didn’t show much in 2 races at 2yo, but still looked a baby and wasn’t right mentally. Looked to have p...

The Neighsayers - AW Finals day

Tough card up at Newcastle but hopefully 2 horses who hold great chances and get us out alive. Good luck if you’re following and with your own bets. 15:00 Newcastle - Aramis Grey Taking on a ~13/8 favourite is asking to get stung sometimes, but I really rate this loveable grey’s chances. Has recently had plenty of form with the 2nd in the market, shades of summer, beaten by her the last twice, but meets on much better terms today. First time shades of summer beat Aramis Grey, the selection had to give away 16lb and second time, 11lb. Today it’s just 7 and doesn’t have too much distance to find to overturn that. Now the favourite, nine tenths a listed winner last time out, could well be a penalty kick but the young jockey in for the world class Ryan Moore I wouldn’t particularly see as a positive. He has won on the filly before but that was in a much lower grade of race and off a 10lb lower mark. The pace of the race is a slight concern as I can’t see no obvious pace, so I’d like to see...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 26/3/24

Back into the green last week finishing +5.5 to 1pt SP. Few more selections this week but will be checking after declarations for plenty but updates will be sent in the WhatsApp. You’ve even been treated to a quinny selection tonight at Southwell. Thanks for all the support within the last couple of weeks and let’s hope we can get infront again. Tuesday 17:45 Southwell - Kindest Nation Tenderly handled on debut, had to switch multiple times before running on hands and heels. Form is okay it seems, 2nd 3rd 4th that day all placed since. Would expect    major step forward. 19:15 Southwell - Notion in Motion Looks like he has got in lightly here. Showed abit on debut, when having no chance from the position hut did nice closing sectionals under tender riding. Gets a bend here what I think he will appreciate. Owners have had a similar AW handicap project of recent years, this looks very similar. Wednesday 19:30 Kempton - Burdett Taking a slight chance on the fitness but think he c...

The Weekly Eye-Catchers 18th-24th March

Weekly Eye-Catchers 18th - 24th March  24th March - 2:30 Doncaster  John L Sullivan  This could turn out to be a useful enough horse. Tanked out the back, always travelled well but never put into the race, not knocked about. Hope the handicapper isn't harsh on him, goes on any surface. Keep onside in handicaps around 8f. 24th March - 3:40 Doncaster  Baryshnikov  Nice reappearance for the old boy. Travelled well into the race, stayed on one paced final 2f. Retains all ability and will improve for that run. Has had similar preps in previous seasons, where he has won 2nd time up. This run will put him spot on for the 81-100 At Pontefract on April 22nd ,a race he placed in last year off 7lb higher, and what he won 2 years ago off 2lb higher.

The Neighsayers - The Flat is Back

After a longggg winter, we’re back on the turf and it’s great to say that. Now always tricky with the ground being what it is but hopefully we’ve found a few that will go in the slop. 14.25 - William Hill Epic Boost Spring Mile This wouldn’t usually be the type of race I’d put up a horse at the top of the market but the Julie Camacho trained Titian ticks all the boxes here. High Draws have been the advantage over the straight in recent seasons at Donny, with Stall 18 being Titians draw. Back on his last winning mark, and 2lb lower than when 2nd in this race last season, I think Titian can go one better here on what looks a tough card for the season opener.  Selection - Titian EW (7/1 Bet365, Coral,Ladbrokes, 13/2 General - 5 place with most firms) 15:00 - Cammidge Trophy Dropping back to 6f looks to have been making of MONTASSIB who is now open to any amount of improvement at his new trip. His first try at the distance resulted in a 5th placed finish in one of the most competitive ...

The Neighsayers - Flat Horses to Follow 2024

Thanks to all of you who tuned into Monday night’s spaces, we always enjoy them and hopefully they’re good fun and informative to listen too! Now hopefully you can finally get to know the horses, thanks all and let’s hope for a successful 2024. Don Simon - Unrated (Quinny) 3yo c Sea The Stars x Snow Fairy Form:  5 Trainer : Ed Dunlop Owner: Anamoine Limited   Ran well enough at Chelmsford on debut, slightly outpaced throughout, finished race off well under educational ride . Nicely put together but shaped that he would improve with time and a debut run. He is a Sea The Stars out of a duel Oaks Winner Snow Fairy, suggesting that middle distances will be his bag in time. Snow Fairy improved from 2-3yo and with the step up in trip, and so did her offspring’s (mainly John Leaper RPR 112) , Who was also lightly raced at 2yo. This looks a very nice physical and can see this being very useful over 1m2+. Win a maiden/Novice , then to a derby trial I think. Doesn’t have Derby entry but...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 20/03/24

Plenty to get stuck into this week on the back of a disappointing week. The flat returns Saturday and that’ll feature in its on blog. So nothing from Donny in this feature. -6 last week but still +18.78 over the first 10 weeks of the week ahead. Let’s get it… Wednesday 18:00 Southwell - Jeans Maite Highlighted this back back in the very first week of the week ahead, stating she could face pace pressure that day and would be interesting when able to get free from the front, well that day should be here and I rate her a strong fancy tomorrow.  Thursday 19:30 Southwell - Lil Wade Didn’t have the early speed for 5 furlongs last day but once she found her feet he ran on well to be a never nearer 4th. Back up in trip to 6 furlongs and now down into classified company he should hold every chance. Friday 18:15 Newcastle - Water of Leith Well, this lad comes with a health warning but he’s seriously well handicapped and now back to 6 furlongs he should have every chance to show that. Got goi...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 10th -17th 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 10 th -17 th   March 2024   13 th  March – 1:10 Huntingdon    Dusautio r    Looked to improve for a fence and wind op. held up out the back, made some mistakes and never really got into a rhythm, made good headway into the race and stayed on into 3 rd . will be cherry ripe next time out now the horse knows he can breathe, id say this is 100+ rated.   15 th  March – 6:00 Wolverhampton    Billiegee   Trained on well and was only beaten here by a better positioned horse. Travelled well but always shaped Asif a further step up in trip would suit, +1.17% finishing speed over race finish % would also suggest that. Has turf experience and would be fine over 10f-12f on flat tracks.    Suitable targets   10 th  April - 11f 66-85 3yo Kempton  26 th  April -10f 66-85 3yo Doncaster   16 th  March – 2:10 Kempton    West Balboa    Skelton is in flying form at...

The Neighsayers - Cheltenham Day 2

Hopefully some of you read the blog and managed to get your festival off to a flyer with Slade Steel yesterday. Let’s hope we can hit the scoreboard again today 🤞🏻 @lukeblack85 Gallagher Novices Hurdle Ballyburn has looked the standout novice hurdler this season following his success at the Dublin Racing Festival and despite him being the most likely winner, you’d be a braver man than me to back him at 4/11 in the straight win market at this trip on the current ground when his speed is his most potent weapon. I will keep him onside however in the form of a reverse forecast with my selection. I really can’t see any of this lineup being more suited to the test than Predators Gold (10/1), with his form from 2 to 2 miles 6 and ability to act on heavy ground making him an outstanding candidate to at least hit the frame. Selections - Predators Gold EW 3 Places (10/1 General). Predators Gold + Ballyburn R/F. Coral Cup We all know about the campaigning of Langer Dan, if Skelton had the surna...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 13/03/24

After returning a profit of +4.25 pts at SP last week with 3 winners from 7 selections. We're back for another week and hopefully can have a similar successes. Let's get amongst it, away from the festival... Wednesday 19:15 Newcastle - Pockley Chanced my arm on him last time with the question mark being 6 furlongs. Stayed on well but left the impression that a strong run 5 would be better... Our Absent Friends and Princess Karine likely to take each other on and a couple of keen sort's in here too should ensure a decent clip. Expect to see him held off these and coming fast and late. Thursday  17:45 Southwell - Theotherside Still an all weather maiden, but that's not without running well in much better races than this, off much higher marks... Had a quiet pipe opener away from Southwell after 11 month off. Would prefer a strongly run race and should get it, She's The Danger, Starsong, Laura's Breeze. 20:15 Southwell - Dapper Man Will only ever take a look at thi...
