The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 20/03/24
Plenty to get stuck into this week on the back of a disappointing week. The flat returns Saturday and that’ll feature in its on blog. So nothing from Donny in this feature.
-6 last week but still +18.78 over the first 10 weeks of the week ahead. Let’s get it…
Wednesday
18:00 Southwell - Jeans Maite
Highlighted this back back in the very first week of the week ahead, stating she could face pace pressure that day and would be interesting when able to get free from the front, well that day should be here and I rate her a strong fancy tomorrow.
Thursday
19:30 Southwell - Lil Wade
Didn’t have the early speed for 5 furlongs last day but once she found her feet he ran on well to be a never nearer 4th. Back up in trip to 6 furlongs and now down into classified company he should hold every chance.
Friday
18:15 Newcastle - Water of Leith
Well, this lad comes with a health warning but he’s seriously well handicapped and now back to 6 furlongs he should have every chance to show that. Got going very late last time at Wolves when it was a trappy race.
Saturday
17:15 Wolverhampton - Maritime Lady
Decent enough maiden at Donny over a similar trip the same day which will attract the classier sorts. James Owen’s filly has proved her self on the all weather and should relish this distance being a crystal ocean. Outpaced twice over 7, now gets an easier extended 9F, should be going close here. Has shown too much already to worry about handicap mark.
Sunday
15:05 Doncaster - Aleezdancer
Won this last year of the same mark as he liked. Is generally pretty good on any ground as long as not rattling quick, which there’s 0 chance of that happening. God it feels good the turf is back.
16:05 Doncaster - Harry’s Halo
This one properly interests me. Into class 5 handicap company for the first time. Ran some crackers on soft ground previously and I think he could still be okay off 74. Might need the ground to have cut up and be genuinely soft to burden this weight. Will assess on the day.
Monday
19:30 Newcastle - Stallone
Carried his form well this winter particularly on straighter tracks, Southwell, Newcastle. Come from further back than other entrant Lil Wade did in this race and got that slight bit closer. Still handicapped to win, hopefully Pyle is retained. Decent pace to go at would be preferred, with Doctor Mozart, Birkenhead and Rockley Point in there, should be okay.
