The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 26/3/24

Back into the green last week finishing +5.5 to 1pt SP. Few more selections this week but will be checking after declarations for plenty but updates will be sent in the WhatsApp. You’ve even been treated to a quinny selection tonight at Southwell. Thanks for all the support within the last couple of weeks and let’s hope we can get infront again.


Tuesday


17:45 Southwell - Kindest Nation


Tenderly handled on debut, had to switch multiple times before running on hands and heels. Form is okay it seems, 2nd 3rd 4th that day all placed since. Would expect  major step forward.


19:15 Southwell - Notion in Motion


Looks like he has got in lightly here. Showed abit on debut, when having no chance from the position hut did nice closing sectionals under tender riding. Gets a bend here what I think he will appreciate. Owners have had a similar AW handicap project of recent years, this looks very similar.


Wednesday


19:30 Kempton - Burdett


Taking a slight chance on the fitness but think he could be let in nicely off 78. Beat a pair of subsequent winners (Group 3 winner Tafmana and 2000 guineas entrant Sir Gabriel) at Ffos Las back in September. Yard have 4 return off a break within the last fortnight including a winner, which has been gelded since off so a similar profile to Burdett. Could have a decently upward profile.


Thursday


19:00 Southwell - Landlordtothestars


Some effort to hold off Cephalus, now rated 21lb higher than that day just 3 starts back. This horse only up 6 since then, now I don’t see him to have anywhere near as much in hand as Cephalus but he’s holding his form well and has a competent claimer on top. Should go well.


Friday


No bets featured in the week ahead for Friday. They’ll come out separately in their own blog.


Saturday


19:00 Wolverhampton - Road to Wembley


Very nearly made it into my horses to follow this season. Showed enough to suggest he’s well handicapped heading into a campaign which should bring the best out of him. Doesn’t look the deepest race…


Sunday


16:25 Southwell - Just Rita


She just has to be well handicapped based on her Kempton effort. She was the only one int the front 5 to get involved from the rear that day and with the step up in trip sure to suit. 


Monday


15:04 Redcar - Dougie’s Dream


Sibling to Isla Kai, has to be well handicapped off this. I’ve no doubt trainer would target Redcar, or Ripon as Swanny pointed out last year. Draw will be key, so will assess after Decs.


16:30 Wolves - Zain Blue


Plenty of ability here and a mark of 83 leaves a bit of room to work with in my opinion. Will see how the land lies after declarations with this one.


17:24 Redcar - Big Boy Blue


Plenty of size about this one when making his debut last summer. Had problems since or given time to grow. 2 quite spins in novice’s and I’d expect to see improvement at this level. Same applies, draw key, will assess after decs.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
