The Neighsayers - Cheltenham Day 2

Hopefully some of you read the blog and managed to get your festival off to a flyer with Slade Steel yesterday. Let’s hope we can hit the scoreboard again today 🤞🏻

Gallagher Novices Hurdle

Ballyburn has looked the standout novice hurdler this season following his success at the Dublin Racing Festival and despite him being the most likely winner, you’d be a braver man than me to back him at 4/11 in the straight win market at this trip on the current ground when his speed is his most potent weapon. I will keep him onside however in the form of a reverse forecast with my selection. I really can’t see any of this lineup being more suited to the test than Predators Gold (10/1), with his form from 2 to 2 miles 6 and ability to act on heavy ground making him an outstanding candidate to at least hit the frame.

Selections - Predators Gold EW 3 Places (10/1 General). Predators Gold + Ballyburn R/F.

Coral Cup

We all know about the campaigning of Langer Dan, if Skelton had the surname McNally he’d have been hung drawn and quartered by now, and with this in mind it is hard to see how he doesn’t go close to repeating last year’s success off of the same mark (coincidence I think not). Previously exposed horses have a good record in the race and Guard Your Dreams has the back class to make an impact off a mark of 137 while at the other end of the spectrum the completely unexposed Lombron just looks to be a ridiculous price at 66’s on ground which is sure to suit.

Selections:

Langer Dan 8/1 EW

Guard Your Dreams 30/1 EW

Lombron 66/1 EW

6 Places with Betfair + Numerous others.

Johnny Henderson Grand Annual

Arriving here on a hat trick I really can’t envisage a scenario in which Madara (7/1) does not hit the frame. The progressive 5 year old will absolutely relish the underfoot conditions and with further improvement likely looks a standout bet for the home team in this contest.  Unexpected Party (16/1) has clearly been aimed at this race by way of some more Dan Skelton handicap tomfoolery and comes in off a dangerous mark of 138 and Triple Trade (25/1) could continue his productive season if bouncing back to form after a somewhat disappointing run at Lingfield last time out.

Selections:

Madara 7/1 EW (NAP)

Unexpected Party 16/1 EW

Triple Trade 25/1 EW

5 Places with Numerous firms.

Brown Advisory Novices Chase

Probably the horse I’m most confident on this week comes here and is Nicholls Trained Stay Away Fay. This horse was touted for a gold cup run after being seen finishing 3rd in the Cotswold Chase, a run in open company. I think the base of that form is better than it looks and while there’s a lot of hype around the fav Fact to File here, I think Stay Away Fay can more than justify being bang there tomorrow and I think this is more than winnable.

Selection: Stay Away Fay (7/2 General)

In the Bumper, if many have you have read our antepost blogs, I’ve been keen on Jalon D’oudairies for a while, and I’m certainly more confident the horse will be bang there tomorrow since that blog. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of any Mullins horse in the bumpers this year. He put the well touted redemption day to bed on this sort of ground in December, and I think he can do the same tomorrow whether he tries to dictate liek the last time it is held prominent.

Selection: Jalon D’oudairies EW (7/1 Hills, 13/2 Paddy Power Betfair, 6/1 General)
