The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 24th-30th June 2024

Weekly Eye-Catchers 24 th  – 30 th  June 2024   26 th  June – 6:10 Kempton    Big Sip    Promising debut. Slow into stride, green in rear when racing wide. Travelled in snatches in rear but did respond, managed to pass the whole field from an impossible position, and was only just denied by a well thought of individual. This was a huge run and he should have learnt plenty from this. Will be better over 8f and should be winning next time out. Hes a big raw horse so I will be following him for a few runs.   29 th  June – 6:10 Lingfield    Idyllic    Did well to finish where she did here, ran very well against a significant pace bias. Looks to be improving with racing and she can progress further in the future. 9-10f is ideal and she can get the weight allowance from older horses.   30 th  June – 3:20 Wolverhampton    City Escape    Nice run in defeat. In rear, plenty to do off a moderate pa...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead Week 25

Last week a blur, 3 winners from the 5 in the weekend but ended bet 3 of them and missed 2 of the winners, but at 11/8 and 8/15 it is what it is. Not too fussed out chasing to satisfy the figures to finish positive on the week. Too much pace on for one and the price just to short the other.  Busy week this week though with up to 9 runners possible and in honesty could've been 19. Hopefully picked the right ones.  A quick note back to last week, thanks for reading the reviews, previews and anything else we posted, every click worth it and makes what we do worth it. Finally over the Royal Ascot brain fog so let's get stuck into it. Wednesday 19:10 Kempton - Mr Mistoffelees Big field and big price but very good claims here in my eyes. For a big field there looks very little pace on, apart from this lad. Stall 11 shouldn’t be a problem in the circumstances. Loves to get out in front and keep going, first time visor should aid this even more. Highland Spring could the pace pressure...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 17th-23rd June 2024

Weekly Eyecatchers 17 th   - 23 rd  June 2024    19 th  June – 5:45 Nottingham    Renewal    Very slowly away, had impossible task after this, was ridden tenderly and was educated in the process. Ran on past beaten horses, showing plenty. Should have learnt lots from this and should take a step forward next time.   19 th  June – 8:35 Ripon    Foreseeable Future     This has dropped to a very lowly mark now and looks ready to go in soon. Ran 3 rd  here but never travelled with his usual zest in the discarded headgear. Was pretty clear he needs some form of headgear in his old age and he should be backed in his next couple of runs over 5-6f in a visor     21 st  June – 5:05 Ascot    Indelible   Shaped well here and won her side of a competitive Sandringham. Made a strong move past horses but did take some encouragement early. Shaped really well here and I feel she could ...

The Neighsayers - Royal Ascot Day 5 Review

Royal Ascot Day 5 Review Chesham Day 4 started with performance of the week, but that was quickly out done by BEDTIME STORY. She was simply brilliant here, she’ll likely not be a betting proposition for a while but if she can reproduce that then it’ll be a joy to watch. She got Ryan smiling, she’s good. PENTLE BAY bred to get better with time and distance and ran nicely here for new connections. BRIAN looks one to take Sylvester Kirk to the big meetings, a Chelmsford maiden producing a 3rd and 4th at Ascot, who’d have thought that… Hardwicke  CONTINUOUS was put up Antepost by Elliot and provided more value soup for dinner. He loomed up and found little for pressure, but looked like he’d come on for the run. Now for the moment of the week, I’m sure everyone in racing is delighted for Callum Shepherd getting his big day in the sun after all that’s happened previously and proved himself as a jockey for the big occasion. He had ISLE OF JURA in position A1, he never looked like l...

The Neighsayers - Royal Ascot Day 4 Review

Royal Ascot Day 4 Review Albany Can not comprehend how good this was from FAIRY GODMOTHER. How on earth she’s won hands and heels after having the passage she did was incredible. Have to give another mention to Ryan too, the instinct in that moment to come all the way to the stands side was brilliant. Most would’ve tried to go either side of Cradle of love and risked being trapped further. The best 2YO performance of the season and looks every bit a guineas type. HEAVENS GATE showed bundles of pace and wouldn’t look out of place back down at 5 furlongs, but she’ll be nice wherever she goes. SIMMERING improved leaps and bounds since that York run where she already showed ability. CALIFORNIA DREAMER possesses serious ability, she fell foul to the draw here, only one to make any inroad’s from the far side of the main pack. Commonwealth Cup INISHERIN was absolute class yet again, showed Haydock was no fluke and looks every bit a sprinter. He took a lead today which was probably impor...

The Neighsayers - Day 4 Preview

2:30  LQ: Looks wide open this and I think California Dreamer has every chance of turning around the form LTO with the fav. She got to the front plenty soon and rather idled, was only headed late. I can imagine she will be ridden with a tad more restraint and I can see her being good enough to get involved here. 25/1 a more than fair price. LD: I’m with Quinny here. California Dreamer has a much better chance than market suggests. Not going mad though, signs of a draw bias sneaking in yesterday late on. 3:05 LQ: Not desperate to bet here but Jasour did impress me in his prep run, quickened up very nicely and more importantly settled much better in the rear. He’s the most likely winner for me.  LD: Inisherin is the best horse in here for me, however I’m not sure Ascot is his track… much likelier to win at Newmarket and namely the July Cup, bit of 10/1 but general 8/1. Watching brief. 3:45  LQ: Not sure what to take the favourite on here with, may just lay the fav as ...

The Neighsayers - Royal Ascot Day 3 Review

Royal Ascot Day 3 Review Norfolk Stakes I think ARIZONA BLAZE is the best of these going forward. Now not saying he was unlucky, he just missed the kick ever so slightly and then did all his own work stand-side, racing alone. The two that finished infront of him got a nice tow into this from BINADHAM who showed speed and ability. SHAREHOLDER best horse on the day though and took a nice step forward from Beverley where he did plenty wrong. King George V Handicap Always a big fan of these race and this year no exception. As is typical of this race, they went very quick in front and benefitted those held up, which probably means GASPAR DE LEMOS can be upgraded here, stuck around on the front end and everything else that was handy finished no higher than 14th. Has ability and a willing attitude, can definitely win handicaps of this mark and probably better than a handicapper, has shown a disliking to Newmarket so wouldn’t expect to see him there. GOING THE DISTANCE got better the fur...
