The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 22nd - 28th April 2024

The Neighsayers Weekly Eye-Catchers 22 nd  – 28 th  April 2024   26 th  April – 1:58 Doncaster    Shotley Royale   Ran a much-improved race once switched to the turf. Jockey dropped whip but kept on fine after going for home early enough. Loves slow ground and will go well in a slightly lower grade. Stiff 6 or 7f is fine.   26 th  April – 4:45 Sandown    Monsieur Melee   Ran a great race in the circumstances. Held up out the back, went for a run up the rails but had the door shut on him. Winner came a similar route but had much better luck in running. Follow next time 10f+ as he has improved loads for a winter.    27 th  April – 2:45 Haydock    Boardman    Held up out the back, travelled well enough but never in a position to get involved. Will come on for that run and should be backed NTO. Friday 10 th  May 7 1/2f Handicap at Chester looks an ideal race for him.   28 th  April ...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 24/4/04

A small winning week last week finishing up +1.5pts thanks to Kalpana but still didn’t feel like a great one… here’s hoping for better. Thursday 16:30 Beverley - Beltane Course and distance winner last year from a 4lb higher mark. This race is better than that though however this race set up looks    sure to suit. Looks likely to be the only front runner in the race which appeals up this stiff    finish. He’s sure to be okay on the ground and he’s entered in the HIT sales next week, so everything points to a prominent showing. Friday 13:50 Sandown - Cogitate Firstly, where on earth are the entries for this race, normally a great race in the calendar… However, delighted with the jockey booking here. Has to prove himself over the trip but as a 3YO this should well be within his grasp. Looks to be plenty of pace on paper here too to help him settle and travel, often the place to be at Sandown. Thought he would be better than a handicapper based on his debut last ...

The Neighsayers - Sunday Series Week 1

The Sunday series returns and always brings competitive racing, decent field sizes and good punting opportunities. We’ll be having a 1pt investment in as many races we feel warrant one over the 6 weekend series much like we did in the racing league, which was a success. It’ll be 1pt win or 0.5pt E/W. Prices will have to be with at least 2 firms to be used also. 15:45 - 5F handicap - (Swanny) I was really taken by the run of Sun Of Sampers in the slop at Donny the last day. He was backed off the boards late and clearly ran into one that day in the well handicapped Thornaby Pearl, who never looked like losing. Runs off the same mark today and is drawn well to take this. 9/1 is a nice EW price to get the Sunday series off to a flyer.  Selection - Son of Sampers EW (8/1 Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, Boyles & Unibet 4 places) 16:45 - 1M handicap - (Lewis) I think the Jim Goldie trained ALPINE SIERRA worth taking a chance on. He won on his reappearance last year off a 2lb lower mark but ...

The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 17/04/24

A very poor -6.25pts last week. Couple that arguably should’ve won but cant put that on the P&L! Hopefully we can get back in front this week… seems a long time since winning. Wednesday 2:25 Newmarket - Gasper De Lermos Much been made about Justify’s and their ability to train on, having seen a few beaten first time out at 3. But, I think they’re very much decent ground horses, which Newmarket looks to be, with the going stick now 7.5, from 7.3 yesterday. Should have no problems with the slight drop in trip from when 2nd in the Zetland. He’s faced the Newmarket dip already which only a small number of these have. The French raider has to prove himself on the ground and the Godolphin horse has to prove himself on turf. The selection is more than a fair price here. 5:20 Newmarket - Kalpana 78 for this filly just seems a great starting point and is more than fair. She’s likely to improve again for the step up in trip. Did exceptionally well to win on debut amidst greenness and o...

The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 8th - 14th April 2024

Weekly Eye-catchers 8 th  – 14 th  April 2024   8 th  April - 3:20 Newcastle   Indian Sounds   Carrying condition, held up out the back, outpaced when weakening. Normally takes a few runs to get right and he will get some more weight back for that today. Will look to back on the turf in the coming months. Would be hard to beat in the 46-65 5f Apprentice handicap at Ripon on May 19 th .   10 th  April – 6:00 Kempton    Approved Star    Imposing sort who has taken plenty of time to fill his frame. Made encouraging start to racing, learning on the job doing best work late. Would like to see him up 2f in trip for another maiden, at maybe a more galloping track would see him to better effect. should be a nice horse for the future.   13 th  April – 5:30 Yarmouth    Speedacus    Not really an eyecatcher visually but I must add him to my tracker, with a potential gamble further down the line. A complete sp...

The Week Ahead 09/04/2024

Bit of a mental week last week if I’m honest, 1 winner (4/1) from the 7 bets but Locked n Loaded traded 1.1 in running, Wedgewood 1.16, Russco 2.5 and Persian Phoenix 2.3. So case of the right horses just not getting over the line, but that’s variance… into this week  Tuesday 2:45 Thirsk - Enochdhu Big fan of this horse off this sort of mark, his comeback run was more than fair too on a night when it paid to be prominent at Kempton. Portman’s runners and this horse specifically too normally improve for the run, which he now is under his belt. He’ll relish conditions and I just wish they hadn’t found him in the market last night. He’s still the winner here for me. He should keep going on    as a 4YO. 3:50 Deuville - Korker Karl Burke looks to have found a lovely race for Korker here, 5.5f on what they’re calling heavy, the same ground conditions as when producing a career best last time out. Took off at the end of last season winning 2 of his last 3, does tend to be ...
