The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 24/4/04

A small winning week last week finishing up +1.5pts thanks to Kalpana but still didn’t feel like a great one… here’s hoping for better.

Thursday

16:30 Beverley - Beltane

Course and distance winner last year from a 4lb higher mark. This race is better than that though however this race set up looks  sure to suit. Looks likely to be the only front runner in the race which appeals up this stiff  finish. He’s sure to be okay on the ground and he’s entered in the HIT sales next week, so everything points to a prominent showing.

Friday

13:50 Sandown - Cogitate

Firstly, where on earth are the entries for this race, normally a great race in the calendar… However, delighted with the jockey booking here. Has to prove himself over the trip but as a 3YO this should well be within his grasp. Looks to be plenty of pace on paper here too to help him settle and travel, often the place to be at Sandown. Thought he would be better than a handicapper based on his debut last year and his run behind Night Raider first up at 3. Don’t think the York race was run to suit neither, so I still think he’s a nice colt for this year.

15:40 Doncaster - Let’s Dream

Donny pays to be prominent and can only see this lad and the maybe the Johnston horse (Alpen Power) wanting to take it up, but even that was ridden with constraint at Chelmsford of all places LTO, maybe the had trip concerns? Anyway, the selection is assured over the trip and on the ground. Michael Bell has proven time and time again he can ready them first time out this spring with many of his handicaps debutant running well, now this one doesn’t quite have the some look as those but he looks a nice horse and can’t really pick any negatives in it, like I can the others.

Saturday

20:00 Wolverhampton - Let’s Get Em

Looked to have improved significantly for the Gelding op. Get’s the step up in trip his pedigree suggests he needs in a weak enough looking race…

Sunday

2:20 Bath - Tiriac

Last off the bridle on reappearance at Windsor last week, looked as if he would improve significantly for the run. This represents a drop in class too.

Monday

15:15 Ayr - Classy Al

Showed he was well handicapped last time out. Only one to make up any ground at a front runners paradise on reappearance and he typically improves for a run. Ayr suits hold up horses better, nice chance if the pace is on.

20:10 Windsor - Safari Dream

Back on a dangerous mark now and had a couple of runs now to be cherry ripe for this. Class dropper and much the best horse in this field. If Sugar Hill Babe runs here then it might be too much of an inconvenience… Will check declarations.

Tuesday

20:25 Catterick - Slainte Maith

Has held her form well in 2 starts this year and just bumped into one last time out. She’d want the ground to remain soft and the less pace in the race the better.
