The Neighsayers - Wednesday 4th September
Disappointingly, a blank yesterday with mixed feelings with the two runners. Able Kane been fair and square but happy with the bet & reasoning. Simiyann well he was never really in the race and if he'd been ridden that slight bit more closer to the pace he'd have at least placed. -2 to begin September.
14:02 Bath - Port Hedland
Happy to go in with a favourite here and thought he'd be the one in here that could still have some up his sleeve. Chased a run away leader at Windsor on first start in 9 months and will have had a proper blow there, winner now rated 17lb higher and actually everything bar the horse that finished last has been rated higher in the handicap since then, so would class that as decent form, he's down 2 for that effort aswell. As well as being drawn widest and had to use plenty of energy to get across, was fresh too. So plenty against him there but thought it was more than a fair comeback.
His rivals all come here at the height of their handicaps, Wresting Avenue is a 2x at Brighton and has yet to do it on a more conventional track, same with Soldier's Design and the way he hung last time I'd have concerns about him. Smooth Silesie could be a danger but he'd probably have been beaten last time if he didn't impede Kento, so all in all, I think the price on Port Hedland is more than fair.
Selection - Port Hedland - 2/1 (WH, BF, Paddy, B365) 2pt win
15:32 Bath - Snow Berry
Looks a nice enough each way shape to this bet, with obvious win claims also. I'll start with the rest of the race first, Vanuted backers will know their fate after 50 yard here, she's made a habit of being slowly away and actually chucked Ray Dawson off at Chepstow on Monday. Some Nightmare won less than 24 hours ago and looked to have a hard enough race there whilst having the run of the race too.
The selection has turned a corner over the summer months and ran a cracker when finishing 2nd to a subsequent winner and was against the typical Nottingham pace that day. She showed for me there she's still up to this mark and with the top of the market having serious question marks, she's the bet in this.
Selection - Snow Berry - 15/2 (Boyles, WH, Coral, Lads) 0.5pts E/W
