The Neighsayers - York Day 1,2 and 3 Review

Firstly, can only apologise for the lack of content recently. Wanted to do daily content for York but work and other things just haven't allowed for that. But here we are and let's review what we've had so far.

Day 1

13:50

Where do we start here. Gave a mention to DEMOCRACY DILEMMA in the only preview of the week and he ran a belter. Blazed a trail before not seeing out the extended 5. Shown he can be competitive in handicaps off his lofty rating and dropping to a full 5 furlongs would have a decent chance again. BERGERAC has to be mentioned, winning "his side" from a double figure draw. POCKLINGTON probably caught the eye of plenty here finishing fast and late, would have a very fair chance in the Portland at Donny during the leger meeting. The race is that little bit further and suits the hold up horses that bit more.

14:25

THE LION IN WINTER ever so impressive here. Had little right to do that with his page but won like a proper one and looks a live player toward next year's classic's. RULING COURT flattered to deceive really and looks a bit, coltish you could say but you wouldn't want to be taking the knackers off a 2.3 million euro purchase this early. Let's just hope it's an experience thing. DIABLO ROJO probably 1, didn't stay and 2, made his move very early. Dropping back to 6 can see him a better light and win again.

15:00

Hard race to dissect this, LOS ANGELES had the race run to suit and probably showed that bit more pace than ILLINOIS, who look like they're both going their separate ways with LA going down to 10f and IL going up in distance to the Leger trip. However IL won't get near Jan Brueghel in the Leger IMO. King's Gambit a non stayer in my opinion and Space Legend shown himself in a much better light here, just maybe not up to this grade.

15:35

Special performance this from CITY OF TROY, ballydoyle trumped everyone's card out the stalls and let COT stride on and he was sublime. Won like the horse he's always been described as and when horse are ridden from the front as if they're the best horse. CALANDAGAN loomed up like a good thing here and will have a serious chance on Champions Day at Ascot. Wouldn't surprise me if connections of BLUESTOCKING regret not taking up the Yorkshire Oaks but the pot for 4th probably means they're not bothered. ROYAL RHYME ran a cracker here, when he get's his beloved soft ground towards the back end he can win again.

16:10

No real interest in taking this race forward, only GREAT BEDWYN really took my eye, short of room then and race got away from him slightly. Still however wasn't good enough on the day and the jock stopped riding close home.

16:45

Just a mad race this, STAR OF LADY M won as she liked here but I'm not keen on taking this race forward at all. Next.

17:20

FAR ABOVE THE LAW ran a cracker here from near the bottom of the ratings, can win next time out down in grade but was well positioned. MOVING FORCE probably did stay the 6 but made his move too quickly and was one paced in the final furlong but loomed up well. Wouldn't give up on him. Places probably filled by the right horses.

Day 2

13:50

Ruby made a comment on ITV that stalls 1-4 were advantaged here in the early stages but not sure that was the case and that's just where the early pace was. which considering where stalls 1,2 and 3 finished, you can only commend CELANDINE's effort and could be worth a slight upgrade. No doubt she'll take her chance in the Cheveley park but would need to improve again to be competitive against the 3 Irish horses at the top of the market. TIME FOR SANDALS inclusion in this divided opinion also but she repaid the faith of connections by securing valuable black type and a decent pot for the 2nd place finish. MISS LAMAI wants dropping back to 5 furlongs and then she could take out a decent pot, she could take in the Flying Childers at Donny against the colts.

14:25

ARIZONA BLAZE backers won't want to re-live this one again, looked all but over until Clive Cox's 5 race maiden came and collared him close home. AGAINST THE WIND ran a seriously good race towards the near side before fading well inside the final furlong. JORGE ALVARES can pick up races as well, he found plenty for pressure and got the closest to the leaders of those held up.

15:00

David Egan and the clipper connections probably have Danny Tudhope to thank for winning here, came here penalty-less when he looked certain to win last time out at Thirsk, before Tudhope taking a look down as if something was a miss with the horse, but there was nothing of the sort here. Egan made plenty of use of the horse and rode him as if he was the best horse in the race and that he was. MIRSKY has been due to come to form for a while and very did nearly did with vengeance here, he looked like he could've picked the winner up at a point. BENNETOT the obvious eye-catcher here coming from rear but I'll be keeping THEORYOFEVERYTHING in the tracker toward the back end of this season, the ground will have been plenty lively enough for him here and unfortunately we aren't far away from soft ground now and he'll be back in the winners enclosure.

15:35

Ryan Moore, yet again showing himself as an absolute master of his craft here. How he got this to win I'll never know. CONTENT was rank keen early and backers of her will have been anything but content early but she had an unbelievable jockey on board, but credit to the horse she was a willing partner. EMILY UPJOHN ran back to some sort of form here and gave me a run for my money at least, trading 1.36 in the run, put my neck on the line on twitter before hand and she got my excited for a long way. Nothing wrong with her run though and that's how she needs to be ridden going forward. Royal Ascot eye-catcher LAVA STREAM caught my eye again here, she just needs soft ground, think she's more than proven here self at this level now even if the rating's don't really suggest that but she was never really best positioned to challenge here neither.

16:10

Race blown apart by the non runners, have no real interest again in taking this one forward. SCENIC likely to be short next time given how she won here but would be willing to take her on, she never really backs up her runs but does look a bit more genuine now she's matured.

16:45

Would say this race was contested by the right horses in the finish. ANGEL HUNTER obviously worth an upgrade having been drawn 17 of 17, but likely to not have Ryan on next time, so that negates that. AGE OF GOLD did incredibly well to get that close from rear and both QAASEM and KING OF ANGELS will have great chance's down in grade. More of an obscure one, will take a look at CYCLONITE next time out too, had to make his challenge widest of all and showed he can find for pressure here, which was a concern of mine given how he was ridden at Newcastle last time out.

17:20

Just one to take from this race that aren't the front 5. SUNFALL was staying on nicely enough when completely blocked off and had to be eased, that was her race over. ELIM backers will have ben pulling their hair out on the back of this, Rodriguez went inside instead of out at a crucial time and that probably cost her here.

Day 3

13:50

LIEBER POWER the obviously unlucky one here, apart from him, race was it was and not sure there was any that were unlucky. Would love to know when it's going to be TRACK OF TIME's day...

14:25

Another obviously unlucky one was AL Nayyir, finished like the proverbial train and if he finished straight, he'd likely have won. VAUBAN won here but I've still stamina doubts around him, he'd be better over 14 furlongs. NIGHT SPARKLE another non stayer, but she travelled lovely into this, can be a player down in trip.

15:00

COOL HOOF LUKE could've been called the winner a long way out, he travelled all over these and finished off nicely as well. BIG MOJO will be toward the fore of the flying childers market, he didn't stay 6 here for me. BILLBOARD STAR the unlucky one, had his race ended by being the filling of a Cool Hoof Luke & Andesite sandwich.

15:35

Can't argue with BRADSELL winning here, got a perfect set up from PONNTOS. BELIEVING fell foul to the track and surely has to be winning her group 1 soon. Flying Five on Irish champions weekend was mentioned for her.

16:10

SOUND ANGELA ran a decent race here off a break, she should be much better when seeing the AW again over the winter, but a nice run here. My heart dropped as CANOODLED crossed the line, she made the Epsom Review eye-catchers and this just her 3rd run since then, sigh. BINT AL DAAR never travelled with any fluency here, chalk and cheese compared to her win at Wolves. She's better than what she showed here, even though she was 2nd.

16:45

ANGELO BUONARROTI looked proper here, granted he was positioned well but he saw off all comers and will no doubt be better over further and at 3. SHAH gave a nod to the Leicester maiden that will hopefully turn out as good as it looked prior. REALIGN travelled into this lovely but didn't find much and BOWEN ISLAND I'd be happy to take forward's up to a mile, set a decent pace and rallied nicely when headed. I'm not sure what the Johnston outfit have done with HIGH SEASON now after an encouraging debut and an encouraging first 5 furlongs here, he went out like a light and may take some getting right, nice horse though if they can sort him out again.

17:20

Would happily take APIARIST out of this, came from the widest stall and couldn't settle early. Still ran on well and with a stronger jockey. Is holding his form well without winning though, but today was probably a career best. EBT'S GUARD had a rough trip here, squeezed out and short of room when challenging wide, his race was over there and he is better than this. PABORUS would benefit from a drop in trip. GOLDEN MIND was entitled to come on for this and shaped as if he would, would want to see him back down in trip though, or he'd need to take a sizeable step forward to get the mile, still a nice horse under there though.
