The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead - Week 24

Returned to winning ways last week finishing up on +4 and back to +21.89 overall thanks to 2 winners from 6 runners, along side 3 seconds... much better and still could've been better still. Obviously it's Royal Ascot this week, now haven't included anything from Ascot as we'll be doing other bits for that and haven't been able to spot loads, however a 5/2 winner at Brighton pays the same as a 5/2 winner at Royal Ascot so there's still to be had. Will add any Saturday/Sunday bets once those entries have filtered through and had time to look over them. Let's get into what we've got so far...

Monday

17:30 Windsor - Bint Havana Gold

Can’t quite fathom the price of this horse this morning. I thought she’s one who would benefit from a stronger ride now she’s gone up in the weights and Finley Marsh takes over the apprentice rider, the man who Richard Hughes says he’s got the best hands he’s ever seen. So that’ll do for me. Plenty of these need to prove they can be effective over 5 furlongs.

Tuesday

18:30 Brighton - Wrestling Avenue

Should be able to take advantage of the drop in grade here, with the 3YO allowance. Should have Say You’ll Never held based on previous form, with competent 7lb claimer further aiding that. The Defiant not won on turf since 2019. Batchelor Boy the danger if on a going day, but the selection is quite a confident one here.

Wednesday

17:25 Hamilton - Sea Girt

Looked ready to win and now second time up after Wind Op, should have his confidence back in that regard. Should get a stronger pace to aim at here too than last time which caught him out I thought. Big drop in grade from a 46-62 now into a 46-52.

Thursday

21:00 Lingfield - Spring is Sprung

Races off the same mark here and is unpenalised for last week’s success. Archie Young retains the ride and here can use his 7lb claim. If no pace in the race declared, could be hard to catch.

Friday

19:10 Newmarket - Midnight Gun

Was visually impressive at Nottingham, quickened up in good style. Quickened on the bridle and then again when he got his one and only go of the whip from Stott. Happy to put that down to greenness as that’s the first time he’s hit the front in his career. Should be straighter here and make use of the 7lb 3YO allowance. From a very smart family, bred to be better than 88.
