The Neighsayers - A Day At The Races York 15/6

The lads are York bound on a busy Saturday and have 2 bets on a competitive card as always at York. Good luck to friends of the page Pompey Ventures and their runner Media Shooter.


1:50 York – 1m4f Handicap 

 

Open looking amateur riders race here but I feel there is one at an EW price what is worth a bet in the form of PIECEDERESISTANCE. Showed up well over C&D on seasonal debut where he came 2nd  in a better race that todays . He is a horse who does run slightly keen so it’s a positive that the hood is retained as this should let him settle better for an amateur jockey. 

 

He came 6th In this last year off a 9lb higher mark, and in my opinion, it looks like this has been the plan for the early-middle of the season. He is drawn well in 6 and id like to see him handy enough as they pace doesn’t look hot on paper. Slightly stamina doubts but he did stay it 12f much better LTO in the hood and I can see him kicking around at the 1f pole.

5:20 York - 6f Handicap


Trappy enough handicap to finish the card but I thought ROACH POWER could out run his lofty odds of 25/1. A wet night for most of Yorkshire and the forecast doesn’t look much better throughout the afternoon and this horse should act on the soft/heavy ground conditions expected by then after half a dozen races prior to this. From a family of several soft ground winners, most famously Art Power for connections.


He’s been raced miles out his depth this season, made his reappearance in a 76-95, 2nd start was over further than ideal in a 0-105 then even last time was a 69-88 at Thirsk on decent ground. He now gets soft ground and drops into a 59-78.


Racked up a quick double at the end of last season and if he can show any sort of spark today he should go close, expect to see some non runners throughout the day so race could cut up. Drawn stand side which is somewhere I always like to be too.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
