The Neighsayers - The Week Ahead 01/05/2024

Well, seems to have been a long few weeks and winners been few and very far between but luckily there hasn't been that many runners... last week resulted in -4pts with no winners coming from 4 runners. Have definitely backed worse runners, just need one of them to go in. We've now completed 16 weeks of the week ahead and are sat on a total of +20.18, so luckily we've built up some credit in the bank. Let's get into this week.

Wednesday

15:25 Ascot - Woolhampton

This filly seems to love Ascot with form figures of 132, she had a positive enough come back over 6 furlongs round Wolves, now she's back to a course she loves and the young jock gets on with her well, despite never winning. Placed multiple times in better races with Searle on and has to be in with a right chance here. Few of them in here look to want further than 5 furlongs and without an obvious decent pace on, that should hinder, not help them.

18:10 Brighton - Let's Get Em

Returning to the week ahead just days after not being declared, I'm still interested in getting involved with this horse, looks to have a bit more about him than others in this race. 6 furlongs look short of ideal on both racecourse and handicap debut, now see's 7 furlongs which can only be positive. The fav looks hard to win with and won't be in front alone here. 74 doesn't look ideally lenient for Lunar Streets, Empassant looks a bit rogue too. The selection has had his come back run, fitted with a tongue tie now which I'm neither here nor there about, I'm happy to play this though.

Thursday

14:35 Lingfield - Brunel Charm

Been desperate for this horse to return to 7f round Lingfield and as an added bonus drops into class 6 company, 3 time winner, twice round this C&D among many placed efforts too. Has won here off 73 and 70 and rocks up here off 63 with a competent claimer taking off 5 too. Should hold a great chance.

14:52 Ayr - Gordonstoun

Another one of my 'should get it free out in front' selections, won back to back sellers back in 2022 including once with Tudhope on. Made all both times there and was rated 9lb higher on official ratings at the time. Doesn't look any pace in here bar the selection, Zebra Star may track the selection but first run of the year he shouldn't be able to go with us. Loved the come back run at Wolves, travelled nicely through the race until the the furlong pole before fading, with that under his belt, should be close here.

Friday

15:20 Musselburgh - Whogoesthere

Had a decent enough come back blasted from the front to get a good blow in behind a subsequent winner and placed horse. In front at Musselburgh is the place to be and looks to have a win in him off this mark.

Saturday

16:45 Newmarket - Shagraan

Would've won at Sandown last week had the jockey gone for a gap, however only up 1lb for that, presents us with another chance in him here. Was just behind the leaders there and if he's in the same position on the Rowley Mile then he'll be in the prime position.

Sunday

17:05 Salisbury - Raheen Rode

Made up some serious ground on debut at Lingfield. Could never have beaten the first two but beat the rest of the field. Wasn't much movement in the saddle that day neither. Entitled to improve for that and the trip should see further improvement.

Monday

14:30 Beverley - Queen's Road Revue

Eye-catching on more than one occasion last year and I'd be certain to say she caught quinny's attention. Looks to have ability but will see post declarations how to play it.
