Weekly Eye-Catchers 26th Feb – 3rd March 2024
27th Feb – 3:20 Catterick
Treaty Boy
Was ridden too confidently here and lost to a better positioned horse on what was fairly deep ground. Has taken to chasing really well, looks a complete natural and was just too far back at a crucial stage to run down the front runner. Judging by the move he made in the straight, this still has loads under the bonnet and should be reaching marks 115+ in the coming months. Will like to see him ridden more prominently. Keep onside.
27th Feb – 7:00 Southwell
Broxi
Showed that her head is still in the game with a decent enough run here in what looks a good race for the grade. Was sent on to lead but that was taken off her early doors, was allowed to drop back and made a decent enough challenge but wasn’t knocked about too much. Has bled in the past but id take my chance on her being nicely handicapped now. She has dropped 15lb below her last winning mark, and she can now race in classified company. The 0-50 7f Classified on the 16th March at Southwell looks the obvious next race for her, she is a C&D winner and she can race against much inferior rivals than what she has been facing of recent. Wouldn’t mind some headgear. Does have an entry for Newcastle on the 7th, will be playing small if declared as its tough to make all at Toon.
28th Feb – 3:50 Bangor
Bob O Rhino
Nice enough run without getting too close to the front 2. Went from the front, slightly keen but jumped well, could have got 3rd if given a more vigorous ride. Id be following into handicaps at your lesser tracks.
1st March – 3:12 Lingfield
Mums Tipple
Good run here first time out. Out the back with plenty to do, was making very good headway but was denied a clear run multiple times. Showed he still retains the majority of his ability, would be interested in backing in The Lady Wuflruna on the 9th March, hopefully that race doesn’t come too soon.
