Weekly Eye-Catchers 4th – 10th March 2024
4th March – 6:30 Wolverhampton
Sergeants Legacy
Nice physically and has shown more than enough to suggest he's worth following into handicaps. Looked a little awkward and fresh at times leaving me thinking he could benefit from being gelded. Will improve for a step up in trip and could go very well off marks in and around 60.
6th March – 4:55 Kempton
Come on Chief
This is a useful horse, showed decent level of ability on debut and backed that up here. Restrained from a wide draw, never really in the race at all. Made very nice headway on the bridle and plugged on late. Has the dreaded 3rd run for a mark next, I will more than likely cover him next time out and then follow into handicaps.
7th March – 2:15 Lingfield
Golden Path
Green early, got a sit in rear, moved okay and was asked for effort 2.5f out. Took a few strides to understand what was required and took off down the straight. Bar the very impressive winner, he clocked good closing sectionals and was comfortably over the race finishing %. I’d say this will come on tones for the debut and providing he has a suitable gap in-between his next race, he will be hard to beat NTO.
8th March – 5:15 Dundalk
Masonbrook Meadow
Can't really slag the ride off from the kid cos it was his first, but this should have won. Raced wide round the outside, losing ground on the bend, making good headway on the standside and just failed. The front two were miles the best here and if be following the 2nd over 7f in future.
