The Neighsayers - Sunday 7th Blog
No matter what your opinion on the premierisation of racing and your thoughts on Sunday evening racing. There’s no denying the competitive nature of tomorrow’s card at Wolves and we think we’ve found some bets between us. Let’s crack on…
6:00 Wolverhampton - 2m 120y Handicap
I’m taking the chance on SIMIYANN for the Ian Williams team. Had a quiet comeback in an Amateur Jockey’s race for it’s first run in the UK from the Graffard stable. I think this could have plenty of improvement now trying a new trip, which is almost an extra mile from it’s previous run.
There isn’t much stamina in the immediate family, however if you go back into the dam’s family, she’s a half to the French hurdler Jigme and several over horses who have stayed further than a mile and a half.
The horse has been entered up this week and declared a non runner so it’s interesting they choose to come here, probably in search of the additional prize money on offer, but the yard are no stranger to landing a touch.
There’s plenty of older exposed horses in here which don’t seem to hold much from the handicapper and the 4YO’s are in receipt of 5lb too.
Selection - Simayann EW 4pl (14/1 Bet365, 12/1 Betfair, Paddy, William Hill)
7:30 Wolverhampton - 5f Handicap
Decent race on paper with plenty of inform and well handicaped horses coming for the boosted prize money on offer. I have been waiting for NIGHT ON EARTH to race over a sharp 5f and tomorrow he finally gets his chance to do so. This thing is all speed and hasn’t been seen to best effect all year, running well for a long way over stiff 5f, soft ground 5f or even 6/7f, and he has now found himself on a very attractive mark. He now finds himself 23lb lower than his last winning mark and in my opinion, he is looking ready to strike over the minimum trip.
This race could be a perfect setup for him also, with only Strong Johnson probably being able to lay up early, he might get a freebie out on the front end. Cam Hardie rode him over 6f at Chelmsford and he gave him a cracking spin, giving him the best chance of winning over a trip what stretches him. This horse is far too well handicapped to ignore, and I feel he could go really close here off a feather weight. Id make Zarzyni a big danger in here so I would recommend playing NIGHT ON EARTH EW at the current prices. The cheekpieces go back on what isn’t a negative, and I think Ian Williams would be disappointed if he can’t be at least making the frame here.
Selection – Night On Earth EW (17/2 William Hill, 9/1 Bet365, 13/2 BF/Paddy)
