The Neighsayers - Cheltenham Challenge Week 4
We're back into the swing of things now and it's time for week 4 of the Cheltenham challenge, let's see what the lads can come up with.

This week I’m putting a selection up which is probably not been missed by many of you, but I can’t ignore how solid a price Shishkin is in the Gold Cup.
In my eyes this is the only horse over the gold cup trip than can seriously threaten Galopin Des Champs at Cheltenham. Albeit for his mistake at Kempton, I believe he would have won the king George. I don’t think the factors of refusing to race will be a problem we see going forward, he’s an out and out stayer. He been nibbled at in the market since his unseat at Kempton and I still think there’s meat on the bone with the 9/1 generally available, a solid EW option at this stage for me.
Selection - Shishkin EW (9/1 General)

JP Mcmanus holds a strong hand in the Mrs Paddy Power Mares chase once again this season however it is not the horse at the top of the market which takes my fancy on this occasion. According to the current betting, Limerick Lace will go into the race in March as the second string of the man represented the famous green and gold though this does not deter me in the slightest and she has a fantastic chance to add to Gavin Cromwells recent success in the UK.
The 5 year old daughter of Walk in The Park has come on leaps and bounds in what has already been a massively fruitful season so far, taking her form to a level and cementing her place in the uppercheleons of mares in training. Just as effective on heavy ground, as shown when beating Heia by half the track on her first start of the campaign in a Grade 3 at Clonmel as she is on Good to Soft. Her versatility was shown to devastating affect on her most recent and impressive start to date hammering the classy Zambella among others (on this aforementioned Good to Soft surface) in which was effectively an away game for her at Doncaster with Zambella winning the race 2 years previously. With a gruelling 2nd over 3 miles in the Troytown samdwiched inbetween these 2 successes, she has proved to me she has the perfect mix of speed and stamina to be highly effective at the Cotswold Venue come March. Her ability to travel with ease and still power her way home will be perfect when tackling the infamous Cheltenham hill and at the current odds of 13/2 she looks a cracking bet to go close in a race which has actually been highly enjoyable since its controversial inception in 2021.
Selection - Limerick Lace (6/1 General)

My Fourth selection for the challenge is the Willie Mullins trained Grangeclare West for the Brown Advisory. Purchased by Cheveley Park for £430,000 , he had a troubled start to his career missing over a year after an impressive 13 length bumper win on debut.
He has taken to chasing like a duck to water this season and looks as though he relishes the 3 mile trip, destroying a fairly decent field in the g1 Nevilles hotel over Xmas he looks to be living up to his price tag.
I’d be unsure on his running plans before the festival as the only G1 for him in Ireland comes at the DRF over 2m5f but I’m sure Willie will have Gaelic warrior for that. There is a G3 3m chase at Naas ,the G2 Ten-up chase at Navan or Willie may even chose to send him straight to the festival given he hasn’t been the soundest of horses in his time.
Currently available at 4/1(Or 7/2 with hills NRNB if you can get on) I think this is a decent bet as he will be turning here. Paul Townend will ride so I can see punters latching on to him, I’d see him as a 2/1 or shorter poke on the day with fact to file being second fav.
Selection - Grangeclare West *4/1 Betfred/Unibet 7/2 General, William hill (Nrnb))
