4:20 Southwell – 1m handicap 

 

Competitive stuff here but I thought there was a standout bet at the current prices in the form of PERFECT SWISS. Hes been in good form all year without getting his head Infront, showing that hes still a horse what's still in love with the game.

 

He was in great form in this race last year, where he did beat the very progressive horse Zealot, who was running off a mark of 59 at the time. That run alone over this C&D would give him standout credentials here and yes that was a year ago, but trainers are creature of habit, and this race must have been on the agenda.

 

He runs today off a mark of 62, what is a very workable mark for a horse of this nature. His strong travelling tendency’s will allow him to cruise unto the race, and hopefully with a clear passage he can win this race for the 2nd time in a row.

 

Selection – Perfect Swiss 12/1 EW (12s paddy 3pl, 11s Sky 4pl, 9s 365)

 

7:15 Wolverhampton – 7f handicap 

 

Can be rough around Wolves over 7f, but I think the price on BAND OF STEEL is very wrong and should be much shorter than the 10/1 on offer. Has showed tendencies to race keenly, but the new headgear combo has been seen to best effect, helping him settle much better in his races.

 

Was caught out badly by how the race was ran at Lingfield last time out but did his best work late under hands and heels.  He was put up 1lb for that unfortunately, but I still think he has much more to offer off a mark in the high 70s. Plenty of pace on here with Visibility, how impressive and Shoot to kill all wanting to go forward, what should give BAND OF STEEL a nice race set up from off the pace. Can see him going close here at a value price.

The Neighsayers - Friday 13th September

  No blog yesterday for the first day of the Leger meeting, mainly due to uncertainty around the ground we were getting. We’re back for day 2 though. 15:00 Doncaster - Big Mojo A lot to like about this horses chance today, starting with the drop back to minimum trip, showed his usual pace at York but failed to stay. Looks to be plenty of pace on in here too with Aesterius drawn on his side and then King’s Call, Zayer and Tropical Storm over the other side. If he sit’s just off these and strikes late he should emulate last year’s success for connections with Big Evs. A somewhat shock winner at Goodwood but should that was no fluke when running a good race at York when not staying as I’ve mentioned.  Selection - Big Mojo 5/2 General - 1pt win 16:10 Doncaster - Beatrice Shilling This favourite, Cabrera has to be taken on for me. The Neighsayers - Thursday 5th September

 Nice to get on the board for September yesterday with Snow Berry winning at 15/2 (or 9/1 if you had the luxury), but with the 2pt bet going down it wasn't as good as we'd hoped for, but profit on the day nevertheless. 17:35 Lingfield - Ormolulu Think this is well worth an each way bet now seeing 7 furlongs for the first time and returning to the all-weather. Dropped down in the handicap considerably this year, beginning on 79 and comes here off 70 with the jockey claiming 3. This is the lowest grade of race she's ever contested too, being a 51-70 and now in a fillies only race that can only be a positive too. The favourite takes up a lot of the market here and he's not guaranteed to get his own way in front this time, with Twilight Dancer and Beveragino in the race and I think he's well worth taking on. She was keen in her 3 year old campaign but the hood seemed to have worked the oracle there and hopefully can continue to do so with the slower tempo of a 6 furlong...
