The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 7
5:15 Newcastle - 7f Handicap
I'm taken by the chances of SIBYL CHARM in this, he's had a few float ups for Jardine now including an eye catching one last night. However it was an amateur race, so whether that was by design I don't know, but he was asked for nothing. Lightly raced still with only 7 career starts she should be able to improve past some of these if on a going day, or a trying one.
On paper this looks like it could be run at a ferocious pace with Power of Darkness a keen goer, Magical Max will try to make all along with Alethiometer, Jahadin and Leap Day. This could set the race up nicely if we track those through and rate this horse a solid each way bet.
Selection - Sibyl Charm EW (7/1 4pl Skybet, 7/1 3pl Betfair/Paddy, 6/1 Bet365 4pl)
6:15 Newcastle – 5f Novice
Open enough novice with plenty in here what are useful prospects for the future. The money for the Cunha horse overnight is interesting but it has now taken up a large chunk of the market and gives us an opportunity to back our horse at a much bigger price than expected. MARINERS WAY shaped much better than her finishing position suggested on debut over the 6f at Toon.
She raced fresh on her racecourse debut but did travel with plenty of power and showed plenty of speed in the process. Her finishing effort over the stiff 6 wasn’t the best, as she raced on the unfavourable far side and her early keenness took her finishing application away. She will have learnt a lot from that, and I feel the step back down to 5f could work the oracle on her 2nd start. She's very fast, taking after her full sister Riversway, who was a very fast 5f sprinter. At her current odds of 20/1, I feel this is great EW bet and current prices should be taken.
Selection – Mariners Way EW (20/1 William Hill, 18/1 General)
