12:15 Sedgefield – 2m4f Handicap Hurdle

(Quinny)

Weak contest here in my opinion, and I think the market has this right with the fav, but I think he should be miles shorter than his current price of 5/2. IMPERIAL MEASURE has been a model of consistency since going handicapping, including a win off a mark of 83. He ran on the 10th of November at Exeter, in a race what couldn’t be working out better, with the 1st 2nd 4th 7th and 8th all winning their respective races NTO. IMPERIAL MEASURE didn’t win his next race, but he did run very well from a very unpromising track position, staying on late into 2nd after the runaway winner had first run (who has gone on to win again)

IMPERIAL MEASURE has been put up 3 for that run-in defeat, buy I do think that is fair with how the form is working out. Evan Williams has put his talented daughter on instead of Wedge, what allows her to take the 3lb off what could be a massive help. I’m sure she will be well drilled on how to ride the horse, make plenty of use of him and try and challenge earlier than the last day. It does interest me that hes sent this runner up to Sedgefield from his Welsh base. Evan Williams 20.96% strike rate at Sedgy with a hes +20 pts to £1lv stakes at the Northern track, only increasing my confidence in the long traveller. I’d make this a 5/4 poke and this should be well bet.

Selection - Imperial Measure 5/2 (365,Paddy Power/Betfair)

12:40 Market Rasen – 2m ½f Novices Hurdle

(Swanny)

My NAP over the cards on Boxing Day comes at Market Rasen in the 12.40. ASTA LA PASTA was top weight against his rivals the last day at Sandown, keeping on in testing ground to go down a solid 3rd to the well handicapped Classic Anthem, with He’s a Latchito sandwiched between the pair.  Previous to this, he was seen finishing behind 2 smart prospects at Exeter in Insurrection & Diamond Ri, the former just being touched off in a Grade 2 Novice Hurdle next time out.

A return to calmer waters today at a flatter tracker should suit the horse, and I see ASTA LA PASTA getting our Boxing Day off to a flyer.

Selection - Asta La Pasta (7/4 Hills Bet365, 6/4 SkyBet Betfair PaddyPower)

2:30 Kempton – 3m Chase G1

(Blackie)

My NAP for Boxing Day is in the big one at Kempton and comes in the shape of a horse ALLAHO. We all know how good this fella is, his consecutive destructive victories in the Ryanair chase at Cheltenham and a demolition job of Clan Des Obeaux at Punchestown lifting him to a lofty rating of 176. Over 18 months off the track followed this success but he did however make a satisfactory return to action when defeating Janidil in what turned out to be a more of a public schooling session than a race at Clonmel in November. Despite some criticism from a small portion of observers, what this did prove to me was the horse’s general well-being and with that being said the fact Jockey Paul Townend passes over a strong book of rides at Leopardstown in order to take the mount, to quote a cliche, has to be a tip in itself. The Antepost prices were far more glamourous than the 13/8 currently on offer but I’m more than happy to take the chance that Cheveley Park’s superstar retains enough of his enormous ability to take the coveted prize back to Ireland and hand Willie Mullins a 3rd victory in the Kempton Park showpiece.

His unrelenting galloping nature and pristine jumping is perfectly suited to the unique test that the race provides and although there will be plenty of competition for the lead, with the majority of the field in fact tending to be ridden forwardly, this doesn’t dampen my case in the slightest. It is my opinion that any horse that does try to lay up with him will only compromise their own chances further, I don’t think any of the sextet will be able to travel with the zest that he provides and in turn, much like we saw in the aforementioned triumphs, he will subsequently be able to grind his competition into submission. ‎

Selection – Allaho 13/8 General

3:35 Wolverhampton - 7f Handicap

(Lewis)

Not the greatest race by any stretch of the imagination but OUTREACH has looked closer than ever to shedding the maiden tag. Since switching to 7F on the all weather his form has looked positive enough and particularly an easier 7 furlongs like it is round Wolves.

C&D figures are 22 and also 45 over 6 furlongs where just lacking the pace for the trip. In between his two recent C&D runs, he came 6th at the Cesspit that is Chelmsford but was only beaten 4L and the winner won by 3 1/4L. So he’s holding his form well and here he is accompanied by competent claimer George Bass.

Normally likes to stalk the pace and should be able to do so from stall 6 and there doesn’t look to be loads of pace on so he might just be best positioned to get to the line first.

Selection - Outreach 4/1 General

5:05 Wolverhampton – 1m1½f Handicap

(Elliot)

I cannot believe my Boxing Day NAP is coming from Wolverhampton but here we are, the selection is the John Butler trained AEROPLANE MODE. Made to have 4 runs for a mark after being stopped dead, must not have been happy with the opening mark of 65 so they continued stopping him. Unlucky 3rd over a mile at Lingfield LTO shaping as though this step back up to 9.5f will really suit. The key here is getting into a 0-52 and with 3lb claimed off his back he comes here with a serious chance; the only negative is the draw in 10 but I’m hopeful he’s too well in for it to matter. Currently 7/2 paddy power/Sky and i can’t see that lasting too long.

Selection – Aeroplane Mode 7/2 (Paddys/Sky ,100/30 William Hill)

Good luck all in a tricky days racing and have a merry Christmas
