Weekly Eye-Catchers 13th – 19th Nov 2023

13th November - 5:30 Wolverhampton

Maveric’s Magic

Showed more here than he did on debut. Strangled out the back, raced inefficiently and keenly, never asked until very late and did move past a few of the stragglers. More than likely will be stopped in his next run for handicaps. Would be keen to follow into handicaps.

14th November – 1:05 Newcastle

Alreet Cha

Gambled overnight but drifted badly on the day. Blatantly stopped, strangled out the back behind a wall of horses, never in the race whatsoever. Id say this one has a good level of ability but looks like she’s getting prepped with handicaps in mind.

14th November – 4:30 Newcastle

Water Of Leith

(Massive Sigh), cannot believe the rides this has got in his last 2 runs, held up out the back, carted in behind horses, hard on the gravy but “no gaps” according to Motionless Mulrennan, pushed along hands and heels ran on extremely well for 4th, not off in my opinion. I can’t see what they are doing with this, maybe saving him for the December AW bonus pot. I’ll be following him off a cliff anyway cos hes ridiculously well handicapped.

14th November – 7:30 Wolverhampton

Romilda

Worst ride of the week and that’s saying something. Restrained early out the back, travelling well in first time toungestrap, jockey waiting for gaps on the inside instead of being proactive and moving outside, no gaps and he just sits on the bridle for a furlong, never nearer. Terribly judged ride and ill be backing the horse over the winter 1m-1m2 without the kid in the saddle.

16th November – 1:15 Taunton

Sammy’s Guarantee

Nice run for a mark. Held up last, some sketchy jumps but always travelled with zest, never put in the race but did quicken past beaten horses on the bridle. Showed enough ability to suggest he may come to him self in handicaps, and should be backed when doing so.

18th November – 6:00 Wolverhampton

Alfa Whitebird

Restrained early, tanked out the back, travelling well in the straight when switched inside behind horses, no clear run. Ran on well under hand and heels, not off. Look to back next time on AW 5-6F.
