The Neighsayers - Saturday 25th November
2:05 - Coral Hurdle
A lot of experienced and old favourites line up in this years Renewal of the Coral Hurdle, however I like the improver in the field BLUEKING D’OROUX.
A cosy winner at Cheltenham’s October meeting, he seems to be on the upgrade going into this race and I see the likes of Goshen and Sceau Royal being vulnerable here and I can’t ignore the 5/1 available.
The Yard are in brilliant form and I can see BLUEKING D'OROUX only Adding to this on Saturday.
Selection - Blueking D’oroux (9/2 William Hill, 4/1 General)
3:15 Ascot - Handicap Chase
Pretty good handicap this as you’d typically expect for a 125k race on a Saturday, but in this day and age it’s still not a given they’ll turn up… Last year’s winner rightly the favourite in this renewal after his impressive win in the premier handicap last time out over C&D but it’s another horse from that race I’m interested in.
SAINT SEGAL is a horse I’m particularly fond of, but was too keen to do himself any favours and was no match for Boothill that day, but with that run under his belt, this will also be his 2nd start post wind surgery which is something I like to follow too. There’s a 7lb swing in the weights too from that day and with the mention of the above things I think that can be enough to turn the tide in our favour.
I love this horses aggressive campaigning, no messing about in bumpers as a juvenile, straight into hurdling for a season and is now a 2nd season chaser still as a 5YO. There’s not much too him, he is only small but he jumps with class and seemed to appreciate the stiff finish last time.
8 runners here so happy to play each way as I can’t see him being out the 3. Should be a hot pace here helping him settle better than reappearance with Corrigeen Rock, Funambule Sivola and Aucunrisque likely to go forward.
Selection - Saint Segal EW (6/1 General)
6:15 Wolverhampton
This horse has had 3 entries over the last days, including one at Dundalk last night, so I think it’s interesting enough they’ve decided this is the race they want to run it. SPIRIT GENIE seems to have massively improved since joining the Candlish yard, nice float up at Newcastle then winning in good style at Leicester, but on the soft ground there it’s hard to judge the form as it can throw some farcical result’s out, but he added some substance to that form by coming 2nd in a very decent Newmarket handicap before the turf season finished.
0-2 on the all weather but one was in a listed race and the other a float up on yard debut, so I’m not too bothered by that and there’s not much to go in the pedigree in regard to handling the surface but there’s no reason why he shouldn’t.
Happy to think this one can continue improving and go close here.
Selection - Spirit Genie EW 4pl (8/1 WH, 15/2 Bet365, Coral, 7/1 BF/Paddy)
