The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 5

Floodlit Fridays Week 5

3:40 Newcastle – 5f Handicap

Competitive class 4 sprint her. Plenty of inform AW specialist taking their chance here, but I’ve decided to take a chance on an outsider looking to bounce back to form in the shape of VENTUROUS. The old boy will be looking to bounce back to form after a winless year on the track, but he has still shown at the spritely age of 10 that he retains all ability, with plenty of good showings in defeat this year.

The old boy is 4-10 over this C&D and is most defiantly an AW specialist, enhancing his chances on his return to this surface. He has won multiple times off breaks longer than 50 days, and this fits the criteria again after having a small break before his run here.

Pace for VENTUROUS is crucial to his chances being a hold up performer, and he has a strong chance to have a race ran to suit here with Bergerac, Dickiebird, Princess Karine and Digital all likely to be ridden handy. I feel a mark of 85 back over this C&D is more than workable, and his large odds of /1 look rather appealing to me

Selection – Venturous EW (12s 365)

5:20 Newcastle – 7f Nursery

Poor quality Nursery in my opinion made me want to bet in the race, and I feel there is a standout bet in here in the form of FARIHA. Very well related youngster, who hasn’t shown too much on the turf but shown glimpses of what I look for in novices looking for a mark. She has ran in very competitive races, travelling well enough throughout, maybe lacking fitness hence the weakening finishing efforts.

I feel the set of cheekpieces what Haggas is putting on her could be important as to me she looks abit of a thinker. The half-sister to talented Al Mubhir has been given a mark of 59, what I think will be more than workable as she slowly starts to get the hang of racing. Talented claimer takes off extra 3lb also, making the Haggas filly very well weighted on Nursery debut. I do feel the only danger in here is the Botti horse, who was very well backed overnight before being pulled out on the day of the race a few weeks ago. The switch to a kinder AW surface could bring out more improvement also, with the Dam being very prominent on synthetic surfaces.

Selection - Fariha (9/2 365)

5:52 Newcastle – 5f Nursery

With a good pace forecast on paper with Wichapi being a tearaway, I thought that would play into the hands of the Nursery debutant GLOVES, who has caught my eye in recent exploits. She has been a very racey filly, showing plenty of speed in all her races but not running very efficiently. She has been getting better settling and I felt on her last run she ran very well behind a very nice horse rated 20lb higher. They have opted for the toungestrap over the Hood what could work the oracle with her, along with the assistance of the head turner in the saddle who has ridden winners for George this year. Could this be her 1000th winner?

I think they will have her held up last here, hoping to settle her like the last day. A nice pace set at Newcastle for a hold up performer is ideal, even tho I do feel she will be slightly better round a bend, I don’t think the straight track at Newcastle will be against her too much. A mark of 63 is very lenient in my book, I can see her racing off much higher marks in the future.

Selection – Gloves EW (4/1 365)
