The Neighsayers - Floodlit Friday Week 4
@racing_lew has caretaker role of floodlit Friday’s this week taking over from Quinny. Hopefully I can knock in a winner or 3 here.
1:20 Chelmsford
ARAIFJAN is becoming nicely handicapped again now down to a mark of 59. Versatile pace wise too which I like for him round here. He generally races prominent round here which as you’ll know if you’re a regular reader that’s where I think you need to be and he could get free, with Thank the Lord the only likely pace pressure and he could be handicapped out of things.
Positive return to form last time conceding first run to a horse who was bidding for the 4 timer. He also conceded first run to the 2nd and 3rd as he was caught in a pocket on the rail and had to switch a couple of times.
If he runs to that form here and reverts to his normal front running Chelmsford tactics, he should go very close.
Selection - Araifjan (9/2 Bet365, 7/2 Betfair, Paddy, William Hill)
4:45 Newcastle
Cracking little race this for a Friday night. However I favour one much more than the others and that is RHYTHM AND HOOVES.
Cracking bit of form winning the Holyroodhouse at Royal Ascot, poor at Ascot the following run however his chances were gone in the prelims that day. Ran a better race at Donny the next time having been stopped in the run with horses coming round him at a crucial stage. Once he’d got a gap he ran on again but the leading group had flown.
The opposition? Can find negatives in a few of them. Bedford Flyer flattered at Lingfield last time out, rival had to race wide and conceded plenty of ground. Spangled Mac is better over further, Alligator Alley is hard to win with, Mondammej the legend should just be outclassed by some of these. The interesting one is Exalted Angel against the selection, off since April so will need the run but looks well handicapped ahead of the AW season.
Bergerac, Bedford Flyer and Lord Riddeford should set a decent enough early pace to see the selection to best effect.
Selection - Rhythm and Hooves (9/2 William Hill, 4/1 Bet365, Betfair, Paddy Power)
5:50 Newcastle
I couldn’t get away from EBURY last time at Wolves. Kept on under hands and heels under a very inexperienced rider and nothing against that jock but I’m happy to see them Jocked up here and a professional jockey taking the ride.
Hasn’t raced loads on stiffer tracks which is a slight concern here but at the price I’ve got to get involved.
Since Dixon has had to relocate from Southwell to Wolves, he’s been in great form but I suppose go to pay for the repairs somehow right?
Would be more confident in running if there was a strong pace on but as I say, at the price he’s a play.
Selection - Ebury EW 4pl (20/1 Betfair, 18/1 Bet365)
Good luck gents with you’re own selection and if you’re following.
