The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 23rd-29th October 2023

Weekly Eye-Catchers 23rd 29th – October 2023

24th October – 4:25 Wolverhampton

Reidh

Nice run on AW debut, travelled well in rear, settled better than he usually did, smooth headway into contention but he was ultimately in a bad track position for how the race was ran. Looked like a step up to 1m would suit or a stiffer 7f, will be plenty of races for him at Newcastle this winter.

26th October – 1:55 Lingfield

Sun God

Showed bits of ability amidst greenness on both starts. Travelled well here but was slightly tapped for tow, shaken up not fully knocked about putting in a nice final furlong sectional. Half-brother to Sumo Sam suggest the step up in trip will more than likely work the oracle. 1m2+ ill look to bet, may be on handicap debut.

26th October – 2:30 Lingfield

Gloves

Learning on the job she is, but has shown ability on all her runs. Races keenly but she wasn’t that bad on her 3rd run, settled in rear of mid div, was never able to challenge the winner but did run on well late for 3rd. She looks to me that she benefits running round a bend, and she should be backed heavier at Wolverhampton or Lingfield.

Edited *(Has been given a mark of 63, what makes her chucked in in my book)

27th October – 3:00 Sligo

Menrva

2 identical runs in Maiden hurdles, tanked out the back, never in the race but made nice enough headway to suggest hes got enough ability to work with. Jumping was abit sketchy at times but that can be worked on. I’d be keen on following him into handicaps.

27th October – 5:05 Cheltenham

Milkwood

Ran well for a long way, took a keen hold but that was expected over this trip. Travelled strongly until 2 out, made nice headway but took a huge blow in the straight and fell at the last (very tired fall). Hopefully the fall didn’t take too much out of him, but this was a much better run than the formbook will suggest. I’ll be looking to back him in handicap hurdles over 2m on nice ground. Bigger bet if Twiston-Davies takes the ride.

28th October – 5:00 Chelmsford

Jailbird

Very weak in the betting on 3rd run for a mark. Has shown glimpses of what I look for in horse what could improve for handicaps. On breeding he will appreciate 1m+ in time so it was amusing that they stepped him down in trip here with a first-time hood on. Tanked out the back, never in the race. Look to follow into Nursery’s this year or handicaps next year.
