Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 16th – October 2023
16th October - 2:45 Windsor
Ghaidhaban
Nice debut, educated on what was very soft ground. Showed a nice cruising speed and responded well to hand riding. Looked to have much more left in the tank when crossing the line and should be back next time out in Maidens/Novices. Good level of ability.
Brunel Nation
Ran well in the circumstances, raced alone on the standside rail what was completely dead, no horse went near the rail after this race. Travelled well for a long way but couldn’t have gone with the horses on the better ground. Will get a mark now, wouldn’t mind him being gelded in the interim or a switch to the AW. I think he could improve massively once he learns to race. I’d be following as a 3yo also.
18th October – 3:20 Navan
Mehman
Nice run back after small break, held up in rear, switched across track, moved into the race nicely but was never knocked about, did late work under hands and heels, ran on for 3rd. Was a very similar run to his September 3rd 2022 run, where he then went on to win NTO at Dundalk. In my opinion, he is better on the AW and should be backed at Dundalk (maybe over 5f)
20th October – 6:15 Dundalk
Alto Sax
Nice run on handicap debut, travelled well in rear, moved nicely into the race, came with a good run but was stopped halted all momentum, ran on late. Was a nice run that and should be followed in his next couple of runs.
21st October – 7:30 Wolverhampton
Siempre Arturo
Nice bit of ‘public schooling’ , restrained in rear, educated for majority of race, held up miles back, never in the race but showed enough ability on the bridle, never asked for effort until very late, did quicken past beaten horses. May have gone under the radar and will get a huge price NTO. Would recommend backing small NTO, if that doesn’t work wait for Handicaps. Kubler’s trained the half-sister to this, will know how to get the best out of this for sure.
