The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 2nd - 8th October 2023
Weekly Eye-Catcher’s 2nd – 8th October 2023
3rd October – 2:12 Ayr
Firebird
An Eye-Catcher what will already be in everybody’s trackers. Really nice debut here, showed loads of ability under educational ride, doing best work late under hands and heels. Was the best horse in the race in my opinion, Should come on loads for that run and will be very hard to beat NTO in maidens.
3rd October – 3:22 Ayr
Abduction
Stones of the week goes to Shane Gray. Terrible excuse of a ride, travelled strongly in rear, sat for far too long in behind horses, switched across the track, nearest finish without picking his whip up. Was the best horse on the day here but didn’t even hit the frame. Was looking at Musselburgh over 7f for him but it seems they have scrapped the race I was looking for. Nice races in the program for him at Haydock and Doncaster in back-end October-Early November. Does hold entry for Ayr next week.
3rd October – 3:57 Ayr
Water Of Leith
Good enough run here to suggest his heads still in the game after some questionable runs mid-season. Out the back here, pushed along with no real conviction, not knocked about but ran on past beaten horses into moderate 6th place. Personally, I feel he is a better horse on the AW and could be teed up for a sequence at Newcastle. Id be very interested in backing him if he shows up at Newcastle in the 49-68 6f handicap on October 31st. Hes a C&D winner off a 10lb higher mark, too well handicapped to ignore now. Bigger bet if Mulrennan takes the ride.
5th October – 1:52 Salisbury
Promethean
Liked this debut. Sent off huge price and showed plenty. Travelled well in rear, pulled out for a run and ran on well down the outside under tender handling. Educated in the process but managed to run on for 5th, what is the best he could have done from his position on a day where it paid to be prominent. Nice Middle-distance Pedigree and should come on for this outing. Will be a bet in maidens 8-10f but I’ll be looking to follow him as a 3yo.
5th October – 2:45 Lingfield
Keady Town
Liked this horse going into the race but the horse’s immaturity probably let him down here. Travelled strongly but when asked hung down the straight, proved hard to give a ride really and came home under tender handling. This is the 2nd run hes been a tough ride whilst showing a good level of ability in the process. A mark of 65ish would be perfect but my interest would be peaked if he was gelded before his handicap debut. Could bring out any level of improvement.
5th October – 2:50 Thurles
Positive Energy
Promising enough debut, missed the break hopelessly, race was done from then on, showed ability to travel well but wide, come with a decent run, but that early move left him with little in the tank for the finish, weakened into 5th. Will get a big price in maidens, ill be on.
