The Neighsayers - Antepost Selections

With the flat season coming to a close and the championship races slowly coming towards us, Swanny has done an Antepost preview of 4 races where he thinks he can find the winner and hold some juice in their prices, including one as soon as this weekend. Let’s get into it…

Newmarket 07th October

Sun Chariot Stakes (Group 1)

A really disappointing turn out for a Group 1 at HQ, and not a lot of Group 1 talent on show. People will probably find it hard to trust Inspiral, having had a pretty inconsistent campaign yet again, but I can’t ignore the Evens being on offer here in a bleak looking field. With Frankie in the saddle and the horse being expected to line up, this should be a pretty straight forward race for Inspiral, who I expect to be shorter once the decs have been confirmed.

Selection - Inspiral (Evs - General)

Santa Anita 4th November

Breeders Cup Dirt Mile

Over the Pond to America we head and I can’t ignore the price on offer for last years BC Dirt Mile winner, Cody’s Wish. This horse has enjoyed another brilliant season, picking up back to back Grade 1s before seemingly not staying the extended Mile at Saratoga. If the horse had won the Whitney Stakes that day, we would probably see her as the standout candidate for the BC Classic. The horse has then been put back in trip to 7f and picked up the G2 Whitney Stakes. It seems the Dirt Mile is the main agenda for this horse and it’s connections again, where over this distance Cody’s Wish has shown probably enough to say it is the most consistent American horse at 7f / 1m. The price on offer is very appealing and I expect this again to be shorter come the day.

Selection - Cody’s Wish (7/2 Sky Bet , 3/1 Betfair Unibet , 5/2 Bar)

Santa Anita 4th November

Breeder Cup Filly and Mare Turf

Another for the BC meeting, I’m very keen on Warm Heart for the FM Turf. She has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, racking up 5 wins including the G1 Yorkshire Oaks and G1 Prix Vermaille most recently. Aiden has been quoted to say the horse is “Made for the Race” in regard to the BC FM Turf, and I think there’s great value in the price here. Some may question that the horse has the option of champions day at ascot also, but the comments sound positive on all roads being America for Warm Heart.

Selection - Warm Heart (9/2 Coral Ladbrokes , 4/1 Sky Bet Betfair BoyleSports)

Flemington 7th November

Melbourne Cup

Probably one race/horse that most racing followers are excited for. It’s pleasing to see for those on at bigger prices that Vauban has arrived sound and well I’m Australia. Ryan Moore has been confirmed as the rider, as was when the horse was nothing short of devastating at Royal Ascot. The horse has every box ticked in what’s required to win a Melbourne cup, not to mention the kind weight given by the Aussie Handicapper. Some will probably say in quote “This Horse is a Certainity”. Willie Mullins and Rich Ricci will be hoping he is come the 7th November.

Selection - Vauban (4/1 Sky Bet , 7/2 Bet365  Unibet, 3/1 Bar)

My preference for these selections at current prices would be a lucky 15 and 4 fold acca. Let’s punish them.

Thanks for reading and as always, be lucky.
