Weekly Eye-Catchers 10th – 17th September 2023
13th September – 7:00 Kempton
Salamanca City
Big Eye-Catcher in my book, slow away, held up in rear, moved well for jockey, asked for effort very late (more than likely riding to instructions), moved past horses nicely under hand riding, running on very late for a 4th. Good run from her race position, clocking nice closing sectionals in the process. Nice horse in my opinion, really like her as a type and will look to follow her throughout her career. A maiden should be a formality NTO.
15th September – 2:05
Staincliff
Very nice debut when sent off massive price in good enough maiden, travelled nicely on the bridle, had to wait for run, made effort but was very green when responding to jockey urgings. Pulled miles clear of the 3rd so I would say the front two are above average. Very nice sprint pedigree and should be hard to beat in maidens nto.
16th September – 3:15 Chester
Nominal Event
Nice debut here, travelled strongly out the back, going nicely when held onto for too long, ran on very strongly under tender handling into 3rd. Couldn’t win from that position but was more than promising debut, I’ll be looking to follow next time out providing the race isn’t too hot.
16th September – 4:45 Doncaster
At Vimeiro
Slow into stride, held up in rear, travelled well but took a while to wind up at the business end, ran on for 5th under tender handling. Nice introduction to for a well-bred type. Further he goes in trip the better. Will be hard to beat in 1m+ maidens/novices
16th September – 5:25 Musselburgh
Infinite Honour
Well beaten in all 3 starts but has shown glimpses of ability. Obviously not wanting this one to get too close to eventual winners, so I was more than happy with the run here. Travelled well in mid div, nice enough headway but didn’t find off the bridle more than likely lacking fitness. I’ll be looking to follow this one into handicaps providing mark isn’t above 55.
