The Neighsayers - Weekly Eye-Catchers 7th-13th August 2023

7th August – 5:05 Ripon

Vallamorey

Ran slightly disappointing here but had excuses. Trip looked on the sharp side in my opinion, never really handled the track either was always niggled along, push came to shove, and jockey hasn’t really asked for maximum effort. Looked after for another day. Would like to see him back up in trip to 12f on soft ground, away from very undulating tracks.

8th August – 3:25 Catterick

Andromedas Kingdom

Ran outstanding race in the circumstances. Missed break very badly, swerving right leaving all chances of winning at the start, was pushed along very early to get into the race but still had a mountain to climb in order to win. Made good ground into the straight but got no run on the rail, hands, and heels into 4th. Her antics in the stalls is ruining her chances and I will recommend playing her in running if she breaks on terms. Handicapped to win in low grades.

8th August – 8:10 Ripon

High Opinion

Unlucky loser here, travelled with zest, last of bridle, no run in-between horses at vital stage, jockey gone for gap what wasn’t there, squeezed out badly and was looked after. Arguably would have won with clear run. On last winning mark now and should be kept onside over 5f.

9th August – 8:00 Kempton

Let Life Happen

Desperately slow away, held up in rear miles off the pace. Passed horses very easily from the back, ran on very well for 2nd. Couldn’t win from that track position and should be going close next time out. Gets handicap mark on Tuesday, will be interested to see what she gets

10th August – 3:00 Brighton

Unleash Hell

Looked to improve for the gelding op here. Travelled strong enough from rear, made nice enough headway without getting too close to the winners. Gets a mark next Tuesday, anything 55 or lower would make me interested in backing when he goes into nurseries.

11th August – 4:49 Newmarket

Fools Gold

Plenty in this race showed loads but this is the one I feel would be best for a betting proposition NTO, as he didn’t hit the frame, hopefully leading to a bigger price NTO. Half brother to The Platinum Queen G1 5F winner, and he showed plenty of speed here, racing keenly on the front end. Was still kicking about in the final furlong what is testament after racing very inefficiently, in what I feel will be a strong novice. Ill look to keep this one onside nto, with a bigger bet if dropping back to 5f. Got ability.

11th August – 6:35 Newmarket

Jayyash

Again a few eyecatchers here but this is by far the one id want to own out of them all. Nicely bred type who I feel would appreciate some cut under foot. Ground was quick enough for this one today but still ran with plenty of credit, ridden with a view to the future held up in rear, pushed along and educated on the job, ran on nicely under tender riding. Will have learnt loads from that and is bound to step forward coming from the Gosdens. Will look to follow this one through the season.

12th August – 2:15 Curragh

Red Viburnum

Nice debut here, travelled nicely in jockey’s hands, no clear passage, switched outside ran on very strongly but was given slightly too much to do. Loved her head carriage and attitude, looks a real trier and should be progressing with that race under her belt. She is small in size so progress as a 3yo may be limited, but she will defiantly be of interest for the rest of her 2yo season. Will probably run in the Moyglare with her owners sponsoring the race, could outrun huge odds if so. Keep onside this season.

13th August – 2:50 Curragh

Eloxi

Final run for a mark, out the back, held onto for long enough, modest headway but never really asked to go and progress through the race. 1m2f looked okay and I think he will get further in time. Follow into handicaps
