Weekly Eye-Catchers 24th – 30th July 2023

24th July – 6:50 Windsor

Proficent

Decent pedigree and caught my eye here. Travelled well in rear, maybe overaced at times, wall of horses Infront with no room, soon pushed along and found nothing off the bit. Probs indicates she isn’t fit and maybe being prepped with handicaps in mind. Look to back in Nursery’s.

25th July – 6:00 Wolverhampton

Eminent Jewel

Scottish wankstain brought this to my attention, Nice type. Badly missed break, held up in rear, travelling very smoothly, no clear run at vital time, headway when got gaps ran on very nicely, easily the best horse from this race. Looks to have the ability to be 90+ in my opinion. Keep onside throughout the season.

27th July – 4:45 Doncaster

Mathematician

Didn’t go unbacked on handicap debut and slightly disappointed on tough ground.  Hes a Starspangledbanner out of a quick ground mare, so on breeding alone he was up against it in the conditions, ran credible enough in the end. Travelled well enough for a long way, made decent move in the straight but just didn’t want to know on the ground, will get 2lb back for that run and should be backed on quicker ground/AW.

28th July – 4:20 Thirsk

Only In Jakarta

Big run here after being very well backed. Broke okay but was slightly slow to pick up the bridle, was in the rear of mid div pushed along early, was still very green, did lay him in running cos I thought he was cooked but slowly started to get the message late and flew home from the back, nearly getting up. Huge run and I will want to keep him onside NTO. Wouldn’t mind seeing him gelded.

29th July – 2:40 York

Summerghand

Looks to be coming back into form for an autumn campaign. Slow away, travelled well enough, made good headway, and challenged for a place, slightly weak in the finish what isn’t like him probably suggests he was slightly undercooked here. Handicap mark of 97 gives him every chance of landing a big heritage handicap. Back him in the Stewards Cup and the Ayr Gold Cup.

29th July – 5:25 Ascot

Existent

Weak late in the market, reared when the stalls opened, gave up loads of ground, travelled well but all chance was gone at the start, wasn’t knocked about. Plenty of races for him at this time of year, Sky Bet and Symphony Group Handicap at The Ebor meeting would be my target. Keep onside over 5f.
