Eyecatchers 26th June- 2nd July 2023
26th June – 8:00 Wolverhampton
Socialist Agenda
Not off in rear, travelled well into straight never fully asked to go on 3rd run on the flat, stopped in all 3 runs for a mark. 3-time bumper winner in his early racing days, suggesting once lumped up in trip he will be winning races. Keep an eye on his mark, 55 ish would make me very interested.
26th June – 8:30 Wolverhampton
Twistaline
Big Eyecatcher for me in what was a strangely ran classified. 1st and 2nd were always prominent and set decent enough fractions for the closers, but Twistaline was the only horse to come off the pace and he did so in a proper rattle. 12.39 final furlong from an impossible position was very impressive on a night where the Tapeta was riding slow. Desperate for a step up to 8f-8.5f round Wolverhampton where he is a C&D winner. Look to back when stepped up in trip.
26th June – 9:00 Wolverhampton
Nikki’s Girl
Travelled well in rear, hampered when no clear run, was going better than any at the time. Won over 6f and 7f but the extended mile did look to suit at Wolverhampton. Ill be keen to have her onside nto over 8.5f at Wolverhampton
28th June – 5:30 Naas
Catherine Chroi
Ran well here in what was a messy handicap. Far side were miles behind the middle/standside pace and could never get involved. Travelled well in rear miles off the pace (1st and 2nd always prominent or led) , switched to the middle had to weave through beaten horses, running on well. The straight 5f may have been too sharp for this one so I would like to see her stepped up to 6f before backing.
28th June - 6:10 Bath
Moes Legacy
Green as grass, slow away, couldn’t put 1 leg Infront of the other, changing leads all the time, babyish head carriage and no run within the 2f , ran on late into 4th once penny slightly dropped. Will improve for more racing, small bet NTO but follow up into Nursery’s.
28th June – 6:20 Kempton
Beauty Generation
Missed kick slightly, rushed up but couldn’t get position, rear of mid div niggled along, responded well and picked up the bit, moved through horses nicely and ran on under educational ride. Back in 7f-8f Maidens/novices next time, will know much more.
29th June – 2:45 Newcastle
Ballymount Boy
Nice scopey well put together type, Broke very slowly, gave away 5l, wasn’t rushed up and was allowed to move into the race from off the pace. Very smooth headway from the rear, travelling the best, asked to go settle race and looked green as grass, slightly awkward head carriage but did find. Slightly outbattled by horse with experience. Should come on bundles for that and ill be looking to follow him throughout the season. Talented.
30th June – 2:10 Doncaster
Asadjumeirah
Comes with a health warning this lad, not won in a long time but has been running well in defeat for a while. Thought he would go close here and would have done if the gaps opened at a crucial time. Was travelling very well but nowhere to go, switched and was allowed to come home in his own time under tender handling. Keep onside in 6f handicaps.
30th June – 4:30 Doncaster
Gypsy Whisper
Poorly judged ride in my opinion, sat mid div but jockey slightly lit her mount up by asking to go forward, then was ran away with for at least 1.5f using unnecessary petrol mid race, the pace collapsed, and Gypsy whisper started to drop back through the field with the other prominent horses, but then found her second wind and ran on into 5th. Don’t think she really needs the visor and I would like to see a more competent jockey in the plate. Future target would be the 1m C6 handicap at Doncaster on the 22th July, a race she won last year off a 4lb higher mark.
