15.00 Newmarket - Bet365 Handicap
A cracking sprint handicap which many would call the proverbial “Minefield”. I’m chancing the William Haggas trained Alpha Capture. A nice 2yo campaign saw this horse just touched off in the Weatherbys 2YO race at Donny By Cold Case, a solid yardstick. He then went on to land the listen Rockingham stakes at York.
He has since then been tried on the All Weather at both 2 & 3, some which I was a little surprised at as I didn’t think as a 2yo he shaped as the type to need the surface, albeit these being AW championship qualifiers. It means to say whether he has progressed from 2 to 3 after these showings, but this horse was quoted to initially be on the plane to Meydan in the early part of the year, so I’m hoping a return to turf will spark a revival into the horse.
A lot with depends of how the track pans out, but clerks decisions and watering are for another day. The draw of 13 should suit as this horse likes to be covered up behind the leaders, and with a middle draw Marquand can hopefully steer him into a suitable part of the track, depending on how it’s being run.
Selection - Alpha Capture (EW)

Doncaster
14.35 Doncaster - Talasey Handicap
A very open and weak Handicap where I’ve landed on the well known as once popular Stone Of Destiny. A Horse I’ve followed for a while, he had ran in much better company than this field recently.
Although he didnt show much on the AW this winter, he showed promise in his recent appearance at Thirsk to think there’s still a win in him, especially with ground softer than usual. A return to settled unwatered ground at Doncaster tomorrow, where he is a Course and Distance winner, is enough for me to be on side at the current price on offer.
Selection - Stone Of Destiny (EW)
10/1 Bet 365 , 9/1 General
