The Neighsayers - Friday 14th July

Friday 14th July

5:10 Ascot 6f Handicap

Decent race on paper, and for me there is a standout bet in here, INGRA TOR has been in my tracker in anticipation for a turf campaign after 2 good showings on the AW after a gelding op. In my opinion after his 3yo win at HQ where he beat subsequent group winner Harry Three, it was a shock to me that INGRA TOR didn’t kick on to be a stakes performer, so im more than happy to bet him here at current odds of 5/1.

The aforementioned AW runs were very decent, shaping with promise on both runs. His run at Wolverhampton was good after missing the break slightly, he was slightly short of room on a tight track what wouldn’t have suited him, doing well to run on into 4th. His Kempton 2nd is also working out well, with 3 horses coming out and winning since, including the dash winner. I’m anticipating a good showing at a track I think may play to his strengths as he always looks like he wants abit further than 6f. Likely to get a nice pace set by Lucky Man, Haymaker and Hello Me, boosting my confidence on a big run from INGRA TOR. Previous Eye-Catcher Havana Pusey is the danger in the race, getting weight from his elders and returning to a more conventional track, so I may play a small forecast as well.

Selection – Ingra Tor EW 11/2 365 , 5/1 William Hill

2:40 York 6f G3

Love this race, every year gets a great turn out by class fillies and mares on the hunt for valuable black-type. 3yo’s have a great record in this race with 10 of the last 19 renewals going to the younger horses. This race does have a record for a turn up though and that is music to my ears as I normally like to play away from the head of the market. I feel that the 4yo PINK CRYSTAL will go with a good chance of upsetting the apple cart , as on paper this is the owners 3rd string, but I feel she holds strong credentials in a race of this nature. She was ultra-consistent without winning last year, placing in most of her races, picking up back end of the season listed black-type on 2 occasions. She chased home the highly progressive Azure Blue in a HQ listed, form what has worked out to be very strong and something I would like to take forward this year.

Her comeback run was slightly underwhelming if you bet her at the short odds but I think u could easily excuse that run, she was trapped out wide on a wing with not much cover throughout the race, she was asked to go but not fully persevered with as the slow fractions stopped held up horses from getting into challenging positions. The front two reoppose at York again but PINK CRYSTAL gets a 10lb and 7lb swing with them two, so I can easily see her turning that form round.

Key reasoning here for this selection is that I feel she loves passing horses and she will be held up out the back off what looks a projected very hot pace. Swingalong, Gale Force Maya, Secret Angel , Al Simmo and Radio Goo Goo all like to lead or race prominent, providing the perfect race set up for PINK CRYSTAL. William Haggas loves a York winner, and he has the assistance of Daniel Tudhope, who I feel is one of the best hold up jockeys in the country. 14/1 is widely available on this selection what is more than fair, I could see her outrunning her price.

Selection – Pink Crystal EW 14/1 (General)
